It was extremely disappointing. This is based on my true experience, everything I said is true: I am bilingual Laotian and English. Almost a year ago, My girlfriend and I wanted to go to a French restaurant, and this came up in our search. The restaurant is beautiful and quiet since there were only two other tables beside us. We had placed an order for wines and foods. Our waiter took the order; at that moment, I not only read out the menu item that I and my girlfriend wanted, in English and Laotian, but I also made the effort to point at the menu (Understandable there's a language barrier and Laotian servers tend to make mistake all the time) to be completely clear with our waiter so he doesn't make mistake.
After more than half an hour, despite my effort to be clarified with our waiter, both of our food was wrong! and we had to send it back. I understand People make mistake but it's beyond careless when there barely any customer in the restaurant.
Furthermore, when it's time to pay for the check, I noticed there was a price discrepancy for both of our wine we ordered (almost double.) I asked to see the menu again and I was right. So I told our waiter that I was being charged for more than what was written. The waiter apologized and said that they updated the price of the wine but only in their wine menu but forgot to reprint and update the princes in their food menu. Bottomline, customer need to pay regardless.
In conclusion, how is a fancy restaurant whose tried to be as good as Western country, got it so wrong and yet the mom and pop shops down the street have more service value than this? I'll leave this to everyone and simply say:...
Read moreStayed at Settha Palace Hotel and tried the food at their restaurant after hearing about their French & Laotian food. The warm bread roll was crispy on the outside & soft moist on the inside… I normally refrain from eating carbs but I had 2 rolls! It was the first time trying Laotian food, we ordered the Lao Larb Gai(chicken salad), Spring Rolls, clear Tom Yam Soup and the Luang Prabang Sauages. The Spring Rolls had quite a bit of ingredients (not like some with too much noodles in them & hence very starchy) and a nice crunch. The clear non-spicy Tom Yam soup was just right (not too sour) with a distinct seafood base. The Lao Larb Gai came with a generous serving of chicken coupled with fresh local vegetables & herbs was so refreshing! The exceptional dish is the Luang Prabang Sausages with multi layered flavours, I liked it so much that during my 8 days in Vientiane & Luang Prabang, I’ve tried this Lao sausage at least 6 times but none came close to the one at Settha Palace Hotel. On another occasion I tried their duck confit and it didn’t disappoint, skin was a little crispy (nice😁) and the flesh moist. No regrets eating there. Besides the food, the restaurant had quiet atmosphere (I like it when I don’t have to unintentionally eavesdrop on the next tables’ conversation) & staff were attentive and communicated well in English. Only 1 regret though, I should have freeze packed the...

The staff are very kind, cordiality describe the service in Vientiane. It needs to improve the A/C as the place is big and heating /humidity is going so high at this time of the year. I will go back to try more...
