La Casetta Riga — Restaurant in Riga

This place has some of the nicest food I've had in Rīga. They mostly serve different pasta dishes but also have a few different soups, salads and other Italian dishes. The food is fresh, It's authentic, It's flavourful. As a dedicated pasta fan I had trouble choosing which pasta to get cause all the dishes sounded great. The pasta was home made and we got our food faily quickly. The service was great, the staff was very friendly and over all made the experience even nicer :) we ordered some desert as well- cheese cake and the tiramisu. They both came in little jars. To our surprise, the cheesecake was the non baked type and both deserts were so rich and creamy, I'm sure I will be thinking about the food for the next 2 months. The portions looked small at first but after eating them, we felt full. The price per one person with the main dish, desert and a drink would be around 20-30 euros which is reasonable cause the quality and vibes are definitely worth paying for. If you’re in the mood for a truly unforgettable experience — the kind that makes you question all your life choices — this is definitely the place to visit.

From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed with the kind of warm indifference usually reserved for prison intake. No greetings, no smiles — just the staff deeply engaged in what I can only assume was a staring contest with the floor.

English? Oh, absolutely not. That would be far too mainstream. Instead, you’ll be treated to a medley of Slavic languages, peppered with jokes that sound suspiciously like insults. It’s like dinner and a mystery show — the mystery being whether you’re the punchline.

As for the food… well, assuming you ever get around to ordering it, let me know how it is. I was too distracted trying to figure out if I was actually supposed to eat there or just admire the chaos.

Terrible experience – avoid at all costs!

I rarely leave reviews, but this place deserves a warning. The smell inside the restaurant was unbearable – like sewage or something even worse. It was hard to enjoy the food in that kind of environment.

Worse yet, I got food poisoning after eating there, and so did my friend who came with me. A few days later, I spoke with others who had also been there recently – and they had the same experience: nausea, stomach cramps, and vomiting. Clearly, something is seriously wrong in the kitchen.

This place should be inspected by health authorities immediately. I would never go back, and I strongly recommend others...
