Been there few times. Name coffee & bread is enticing. Bread is really good. A bit on the pricey side tho. Coffee separate story: inconsistent! I like to drink daily brew coffee which is 2,50 euros with free refills. Perfect for having a long cosy morning. Yet, sometimes its lukewarm, sometimes strength is off, sometimes it hits the spot: strong, aromatic and really good flavor. Seems it depends in the day who brewed it. Once I brought to attention your coffee is off today, i explained its weak and barely hot. No service recovery or further questions asked. Money charged and next customer served. Even Starbucks around the world have better standards: 45min for daily brew and even then if time approaches close to expiration barista without asking offers to make a fresh batch just wait for few min longer. Music there is too loud to enjoy conversation. Place is a bit all over the place. No harmony. Seems they tried to make it sooooper trendy and hip, yet all what people want is a regular good coffee and some smile. Chefs who make dishes on the far side in-front of others are stiff and preoccupied how to make every dish into art work. Its bread and coffee - simple! Seems name, vibe, staff not in sync. Place is new and I hope they will work on it- cause bread is...
Read moreI don’t know how this place got such a high rating. Atmosphere: completely open doors, so inside wasps flying and walking pigeon. Disgusting.
Pastries are okay, nothing Wow in them. Cinammon roll was a bit dry.
The drinks ( coffee with milk and tea ) had to wait for a very long time.
When paying asking if tea can be purchased in a cup or only in a teapot. I was told only in teapot. In a cup can be bought only for take away. We were dining in, so got a teapot ( no choices). When we were finally served after long time - tea was ( surprise surprise) in a Cup! I came and asked why? If you said only teapot possible. Reply was - we finished teapots. I said but we paid for teapot. I was told we paid for amount of tea they put in teapot. So , in a cup was a huge massive bag of tea ( that was supposed to be in a teapot) it was huge and had to remove from cup immediately, as it was getting completely dark in a matter of seconds. So, you tell me I cannot have a cup of tea, then you serve me cup because you finished teapots. Means it is possible to have a cup. You ruin tea by putting kilo of tea for a cup size. And I never got receipt. Riga is my beautiful city with hundreds of delicious places. I would never recommend this...
Read moreFour stars for the specialty coffee from the local roastery Kalve, beautiful interior and spacious, bright place, great location and quite nice music. The staff is now a bit lost and confused, will hopefully feel better soon, but they are trying and that is good. We took a savoury tart, two pain au chocolat pastries, an almond croissant. To be honest, despite being pretty and done in a professional way, the pastries were not the best I had a chance to try, I guess I was missing some love and care in their taste, and the pain au chocolat was too greasy, yet it did not really feel like butter but more like an oil being used in the baking process. Really hope that some improvements will be done, otherwise I would only go here for a cup of coffee and may be for some bread to take it home. The fresh bread looks good and is probably every enjoyable when warm and soft. The breakfast options have a bit of everything from the classics - the omelette, sandwiches, sweet and savoury porridge. Some takeaway options available. I think that more time and experience is needed for the place to become a perfect cafe, but they are on the right...
