We were there on a Saturday, after visited the town, we came to this restaurant to try some local food.
We took a table outside, waited for some time, nobody came to us to ask, so one of us went to the cashier to take the menu, they asked if we wanted all menus in English, we asked if there was in Polish, so they started giggling for unknown reason, that wasn't nice atmosphere.
We ordered our drinks and food, the Gira was pretty tasty, maybe the best I can rate from this restaurant. We were quite hungry, but we waited more than an hour for our food, it wasn't like it was busy, completely not, there were just couple of tables occupied.there were customers after us they ordered they ate they finished drink and paid and left, but our potato dished were like they made them from digging the potatoes in Peru, The waitress walking around to take the orders from other tables, picked the dirty plates, served the food,ect...we waited so long, our beers were empty, nobody came to even ask.
I was much losing my patience after one hour more waiting, I asked the waitress about our food when she once again crossed our table but ignored us, she said she would go to check. Maybe about 10 mins, our dishes were served. We were like released, because we were hungry, but what a disappointment! There was one hair in my dish! I was hungry I put this hair aside, but then I found another one in my dish!!! I can't stand it! It was too much! I simply can't eat it anymore. When we took the bill we complained about that to the restaurant, the manager was fine, he proposed coffee or something but we don't want anything at all, we didn't pay this dish with hairs because I didn't eat it at all.
All in all, I don't recommend this restaurant at all, we have been couples of places in Lithuania, most time we were satisfied, but this restaurant is specific, I think it's not a Polish-friendly place, which is weird, I mean you can have your own opinions on everything, you can like or dislike anything if you feel like, but come to the profession, I think it's not decent related to your work. We came there as customers not imagination enemies, simply don't understand why it happened like that.I think we would never come to this restaurant again and whoever asks us we would not recommend it.
This was our experience in this restaurant, just as a reference to anyone who is considering to visit...
Read moreThe plus is the atmosphere. That's the only plus. There were only a few Lithuanian dishes on the menu (aside from a few zeppelins), most of it is your usual touristy stuff. They were out of the only Lithuanian starter they offer (fried cheese). But the real "treat" is the service. It's so rude and inefficient it's almost worth experiencing. We arrive shortly after Friday midday, the ratio of customers to service personnel is around 1:1 but the service is indifferent at best, annoyed at worst. We order a starter and two mains. Takes them 20 minutes to discover that they don't have that starter (I guess that's when they actually input the order in the system). Whilst playing the waiting game (you will have to as well!) we witness the sheer number of waiters all equal in their ineptness at servicing the diners who are now slowly drizzling in. Elderly couple who cannot climb the stairs to the first floor dining room? Dunno, maybe look if you find a table outside or something (they leave). Then suddenly my main course (Lithuanian burger, 2/5 stars) arrives, only to be followed a few minutes later by the substitute starter. I have finished eating (including my late-to-the party starter) when my friend is still waiting for his main (a zeppelin) to arrive. Upon inquiry the waiter is visibly annoyed having to educate us in he obvious: of course a zeppelin takes a lot of time because it involves boiling and frying! So go back, sit down and wait some more. We have already needed to run to the parking lot to extend the parking ticket once and being not in the mood to do it again, we leave - my friend equally...
Read moreI don’t spend much time on my bad reviews so I’ll be quick. The second star is for the decor and for them warning food will take an hour.
However: 1. I asked for my beer about a half a dozen times and, after we got our food ~45mins later, I had to go to the bar and force the beer pour from the bartender myself. 2. Waitress brought buckwheat pancakes instead of potato pancakes, and then, as an apology, brought us kvas (malt beverage) as a consolation prize. WHICH WE DIDNT LIKE AND DRINK BUT IT ENDED UP ON THE CHECK. 3. My wife was looking forward to cepelinas combo, the traditional dish, which an hour later ended up to be out, and the only, meat version, she basically called disgusting. 4. The most expensive dish on the menu, the duck, was overcooked. 5. Potato pancakes had a weird taste.
I’m sick of making this list, but at the end, the waitress blamed everything on some family problem. I feel for her (and I did leave her an atypical for Eastport tip) but I’m here to have a good experience and not feel bad for a waitress.
I guess it ended up longer than intended, I guess I just had something to share.
Bon appetite (perhaps...
