Our Tuesday morning in Kaunas—on August 12th, to be exact—we decided to start in style. Instead of having breakfast in our temporary apartment, we headed downtown to try one of the city’s renowned spots. Our destination was BRUNCH BAR, a place with over 500 Google reviews averaging 4.5 stars, promising a great start to the day before our trip to the capital, Vilnius.
The moment we arrived, it was clear that we had come to a popular place. The café was full, and we were very lucky that a friendly (and, as my wife and I both agreed, quite attractive) waitress managed to seat us at one of the last available tables. The pleasant buzz of conversation and the satisfied faces of the other guests were the best possible sign that we had chosen well for our late breakfast.
Of course, we ordered the absolutely indispensable morning coffee, along with a homemade lemonade. The drinks were excellently prepared and refreshing—just what we needed to start the day. It was obvious that even the basics, like coffee, were given proper care here, which is always a good indicator of a restaurant’s overall quality.
My wife decided to try the Turkish eggs, and it turned out to be a perfect choice. The plate featured beautifully prepared poached eggs accompanied by bacon and other ingredients. The dish was not only visually appealing but also wonderfully balanced in flavor. It was a modern and imaginative breakfast that proved the kitchen here was not afraid of creativity.
I opted for pancakes with plain yogurt and fruit. Even this seemingly simple dish was prepared to perfection. The pancakes were fluffy, the yogurt pleasantly creamy, and the fruit added a refreshing touch. It was an excellent sweet finale to our stay in Kaunas, giving me the energy to last several more hours.
We were thoroughly satisfied with our choices. Starting the day here had been the right decision without a doubt. Everything deserved praise—from the drinks to the food, everything was fresh, delicious, and prepared with obvious care and attention to detail. It turned our breakfast into a little culinary celebration. A special mention must go to the very kind and attentive young waitress.
What really caught our attention, and pleasantly surprised us, was the innovative way tipping was handled. After we paid the bill by card, the waitress left a small card with a QR code and NFC chip on the table. With a phone, we could simply select and send the desired tip directly to the staff. From my perspective as a technical editor, it was a brilliantly elegant solution for the cashless age.
I would rate our visit to BRUNCH BAR as excellent. It is a place where you can enjoy a fantastic meal in a lively and pleasant atmosphere, while also being surprised by clever modern technological touches. If you are in Kaunas and looking for a spot for breakfast or brunch, I can wholeheartedly recommend this place. It was the perfect farewell to this...

Read moreThe name definitely speaks for itself - it's a brunch spot. They have vegetarian food and a very nice selection of drinks and juices (peach juice!) Important to note that they're busy on weekends so call to book a table a day or two ahead.
Firstly, Avocado toast was superb, salmon Benedicts were, too! With toast you usually end up keep rocking the table back and forth in an attempt to cut the hard crust. This place spares you from this nuisance since the bread is soft enough, perhaps less 'artisan' and more like fresh medium dark bread.
Secondly, it's not a desserts place. They were all vegan with berries, fruits and other fruity ingredients, which isn't to my liking - I prefer traditional desserts without annoying raspberry seeds to bite into, and like to have a modern option or two. The only traditional thing here was Tinginys, but that's very niche.
The interior is just ok: modern floral arch elements in a room with white painted brick walls doesn't create a very cosy setting. And the music was inconsistent: playing retro and 90s hits which doesn't suit the place at all, and was quite disruptive.
Definitely a brunch spot.
