First time eating indian food and had an incredible first impression. The portions were big, the wait time wasnt long, the atmosphere was warm and overall the taste was definitely worth the money.
The palak chicken that I ordered was delicious, the sauce was silky, and not too spicy. Some pieces of the chicken were more on the drier side, however, it's understandable as chicken breasts are a dry in general. It didn't ruin the dish at all though. Jeera rice with carraway seeds was delicious as well, and I'm not even a fan of carraway seeds. The naan bread was crispy around the edge, but soft in the middle, easy to pull apart and enjoy with the rest of the dishes. The portion was big enough to share between two people. I also ordered a masala tea just to try it out. As someone who is not a fan of black teas - the masala chai has become my favorite tea. My partner ordered the chicken biryani. The portion was very big and very filling with plenty of rice and chicken. Again, the dish was spicy, but in an enjoyable way where you can taste it, but it doesnt burn. We also ordered Gulab Jamun to share which after barely being able to finish our food, the dessert went down easy and wasnt heavy at all. A very enjoyable dessert that wasnt too sweet for me, but sweet enough for my partner who has a sweet tooth, with plenty of syrup and nuts.
Overall the experience was nice, the food - delicious, the atmosphere - warm, and the prices - reasonable. We will be coming...
Read moreWe really wanted to like this place… but honestly, we’re still wondering how it stays open.
First of all, it’s tucked away in a quiet corner with a tiny hanging sign that leads you through an archway, feeling more like someone’s private yard than a restaurant. Outside tables were empty, which might have been a clue.
Inside, just one table was occupied. The waitress greeted us (eventually) without any rush or urgency. After quite a while, she brought menus. Then… nothing. We were so hungry we almost left, but since it was Kaunas Days and every other place was packed, we stayed.
When she finally came to take the order (bless her), we asked about Bhuna or Jalfrezi – she didn’t seem to know what they were, which was surprising considering the cuisine. Still, we ordered.
The drinks came after a delay – one beer glass literally arrived via a man crossing the courtyard from another place, where it had apparently been poured. He even left it sitting on the bar to “finish dripping” before bringing it to our table. Quite the show.
The food? Tasty! But the portions were tiny – our starter was bigger than our mains. The three of us paid almost €70 and left still hungry.
Would we go back? No. Should you go? Honestly… we’ll leave that up to your sense of...
Read moreThats what a 12 euro dish looks like from masalaciti. I ordered coconut fish curry with salmon. As you can see this is deffiniately not salmon , but some white fish that had a very strong fish smell. The weird thing is that they do not have any other fish but salmon on their menu, so how did i get this fish???? Are they fooling people, getting them to pay for salmon and giving cheap fish hidden in a sauce instead??? I rang to complain. Not only did they not spoke proper english, the lady on the phone laughed and hanged up on me. Very polite indians 🙄🙄🙄 they didnt even sound sorry and said , we must of made a mistake. Really??? You made a mistake giving me a wrong fish you dont even have on the menu?? You are trying to fool people by doing this! This has never happened to me , ever. Well done masalaciti, will never buy again and i will make sure people know this and check before ordering meals with you. People might have allergies to certain fish you dont just give them an alternative 🙄 its like ordering almond milk latte but getting oat milk latte and that person migh not tolerate oats!...
