The one star review is to attract attention and lower the overall rating, which I think is too high. If you look at my individual scores it will be more reflective. It's a Belgian bistro and the decor and ambiance capture that perfectly.... it's a lovely place..with a good range of Belgian beers and a good wine list. From a service perspective, there were two members of staff when we were there. One was lovely, the other was...how should I say...a bit Parisien. My primary issue was the food. I had duck breast with a berry sauce. Firstly, it was a half duck breast ( I ordered the same the following night at a different restaurant and got a full breast for the same price). We weren't asked how we wanted it cooked, and it came well done which made it tough. It was also under seasoned. And the berry jus was more like a jam/conserve....overly sweet, with no savoury flavour. I really hate to give a lower review, but the overall experience was let down by the food. And, as I mentioned, the following evening, I had the same meal for the same price at a different restaurant, where all my issues were...
Read moreLovely little find. We stopped for a drink when we accidentally stumbled across this establishment and we went back 3 more times. We never intended to eat here at first but we left it late and thought that we may as well order. When I say the food was absolutely delicious I mean it was amazing. We ordered mussels and the pork belly, it was full of flavour well prepared and looked beautiful. We are going for another visit for our last evening in Vilnius and cannot wait. The staff are friendly and attentive and the recognised us when we went back. The outside seating is lovely and tucked in a little alley, it gets busy but the staff do all they can to accommodate and fit you in. They say they close at 11 but really they stay open for as long as you need. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is delightful. 100%...
Read moreI’d like to share my experience with Puaro. Previously, this location was home to Rene restaurant, and I noticed that the menu closely resembles the previous one—offering the same selection of beer, mussels, and likely the same starters. Unfortunately, Puaro didn’t live up to my expectations in terms of taste.
I ordered mussels in wine with Belgian beer (though I originally wanted mussels in beer with bacon, but that dish was unavailable for some reason). The mussels in wine lacked salt and flavor, and while the broth had some taste, it didn’t really resemble wine—I’m not sure how that happened. The Belgian fries looked great, but the sauce was just basic Hellmann’s mayo, without any special twist.
Overall, I feel that Puaro doesn’t quite match the quality of the former Rene. In my opinion, the kitchen needs...
