Medininkai — Restaurant in Vilnius

This place was recommended by an acquaintance as the best Lithuanian food in town so we came especially to check it out. This restaurant is located just inside the city gate about 50 meters from the Gate of Dawn. It is in an old 16th (??) century house. In the summer you can sit at the terrace. The main dining rooms have curved Gothic style ceilings like you see in the pictures.

All the dishes were good. They were hearty Lithuanian style food, lots of potato dishes, different kinds of meats and cured meats.

The service was also good and they actually seat you, unlike at most other restaurants I have been to in Lithuania. Toilets were also clean and dry even if there was only one, at least from what...

We happened across this restaurant while staying locally and it looked inviting even though it only had a few diners at the time.

The food was magnificent, so much so we came back on our last night to finish a perfect week with a perfect meal.

Make sure to order the Beef Steak in red wine, and then another day you can have the ribs or the chicken.

Highly recommended, superb food reasonably priced with excellent service.

Me and my friend end up in this restaurant at end of our weekend in Vilnius. It was a surprise! The restaurant was not really busy but the staff was friendly, quick, efficient and really respectful.
