The only good thing about this place is the location by the river. The girl working there should really think about getting a new job where she might be happier. Not at all polite nor nice. Complete wrong attitude. The only bad experience in Vilnius where everyone was very nice and polite in all the other places we went. The food is even worst than the service. A real shame to Lithuania that they call it lithuanian food. We had very good food in Vilnius but not in this place. The filling of the zeppelins was not fresh and prepared in the moment. It tasted and looked like bad quality ground meat (no sign of the other ingredients that shloud be present). We had Zeppelins in other places with lovely filling. This one was a disgrace. Shamefull. The pork was served with bad quality store bought (and not even better quality) pickled vegetables (again we had very good ones in other places in Vilnius). The sauce used for the meat tasted and looked store bought Chinese sauce (like the one used in cheap Chinese restaurants). No idea why they use it (might it be to look exotic?). The soup was extremely salty and not at all smooth as it should be (again we had the same kind of soup really well prepared elsewhere in Riga and Vilnius). So I don't really know how come this place has so much good reviews. Unless the chef didn't went to work today and some of the nasty waiters went to the kitchen or the chef recently quitted his job and was replaced by an unprofessional person I can't understand it. In any case I would advise everyone to avoid this place. Eventually to have a beer by the river and punish yourself enduring the...
Read moreWe stopped by Užupio Kavinė on a rainy day and it was the perfect choice. We only had coffee and warm chocolate, but they were exactly what we needed—comforting and rich while watching the rain. The café has a lovely riverside space that feels very cozy, especially when you imagine dining there in nicer weather.
What makes this spot extra special is its unique location. Right beside the café you’ll find the famous swing in the river, a quirky attraction that captures the artistic spirit of Užupis. Just across is the mermaid statue, where visitors traditionally make a wish—a charming touch that makes the place feel magical.
The service was excellent—warm, attentive, and welcoming, which really added to the whole experience. Užupio Kavinė isn’t just a café, it’s part of the character of Užupis itself: relaxed, creative, and inviting. A perfect stop whether you’re just having a drink or planning a full meal...
Read moreWe came here several times, both at noon and in the afternoon. Although at times one has to wait a bit to be served, overall, the service was friendly. Our favourite thing here were the spare ribs (Užupio griuvėsiai), which were absolutely great! This dish sells out quickly. Otherwise, also the potato dumplings (cepelinai) at this place tend to sell out very quickly. We gave them a try once, and I would say here they are better than in the nearby places (some of which claim to specialize in traditional cuisine). Personally, if you want to have cepelinai around the Old Town, I would say come here, around noon. The drink choices are okay. The kvass is from a bottle (a little too sweet), whereas the Gluehwein (imported from Germany) is to be avoided at all cost. For beer, the list is pretty standard. We would definitely go there again, especially on...
