I went here 3 years ago, the food and service were both good before. Now everything was mediocre. The quality and portion for the food weren’t worth your money spent (280+ yet the beef slices were THAT little) The staffs did their chores as if the customers did sth wrong, from the very beginning until the end. No smile at all, VERY RUDE AND EVEN LIED. So we had bbq set 1, and ordered some ala carte dishes along with bingsu. When we were almost done with our food, we asked for bingsu to be served. 10 minutes later, a female and male staffs came to our table, WITHOUT SAYING ANY WORDS, they cleaned our table, taking alll our plates, jjajangmyeon which had yet been finished, along with other dishes. Mind that I was picking on cheesy corns with my chopsticks (currently eating). We’re stunned, even my younger brother beside me had to finish his food quickly to hand them his plates. The foods were served around 8.15pm, and it was only 9.07, why the push? Your regulation is a 2-hour dining limit. I asked for their manager wanting to complain about the rude behaviour, but the very female staff (a specky) who cleaned our table before, came and asked “is everything okay?” And there, I questioned her “did you ask for our permission to clean our table? Did we say yes?” She lied through her teeth, saying “oh I did ask”. No one on the table heard her, and I sit right beside where she stood, impossible for me not to hear her (I wore a satin silk scarf without inner scarf, hence I could hear crystal clear). She went defensive and said “I’m sorry, maybe because my voice is slow”. No, do not lie. Does she even listen to herself? She spoke to me just fine, her voice was in a normal volume. And she dared to point at my brother-in-law, saying that he said yes. He was UTTERLY SHOCKED when all he ever said to staff was “can we have our bingsu now?” That’s all. The least she can do is ASK FIRST BEFORE CLEANING CUSTOMER’S TABLE. Imagine you were eating, and people bluntly took your plates right when you were still holding your chopsticks. That’s rude. Verily. She even went blaming her colleague, saying that it was her colleague who told her to clean our table. EVEN IF there was miscommunication on your side, you still need to ask for permission right? For instance, “boleh kami ambil pinggan ke?” “Cik/puan ada minta bersihkan meja ke?” “Kami bersihkan meja dulu ye” I know f&b is tiring, but do not project your tiredness on customers who were eating just fine, we didn’t even make hassles there.
Not just the staff, even the owner is problematic. I went here wearing simple clothes since it’s just a dinner with family, not some family gathering. I wore a black jubah and purple satin silk scarf. I was holding my niece when I saw the owner greeted EVERY SINGLE TABLE, even shot ‘saranghae’ gesture, and said chagiya to male customers. YET HE SKIPPED our table. I was standing, he saw me, not once but twice. Maybe he mistook me as a maid/nanny, but think again. Even if I was a maid/nanny, am I not your customer? Don’t you think you’re being racist? I thought I was the only one who thought too much, but my brother-in-law even saw that. Saya pun bukanlah hamak sangat nak SARANGHAE tu, but it was too obvious.
I will never come here again after being ridiculed by their owner and staffs. Do I have to wear expensive clothes and handbag, just then you would treat me better? If we don’t have money, would we walk into...
Read moreVery unprofessional staff. The service was the worst I saw in a while. We were 5, we sat on a table they bring one small bowl of kimchi for 5 ppl and some other pickles, each bowl had only one pickles. We ask them to bring an other set of side dish since we are 5 and it is cmco, they refuse and they said u eat then we refill the same bowl, then we ask for extra bowl waiter said we will bring 5 bowl only and no more plate etc, idk what is the purpose of service in a restaurant then.
We ask to refill side dishes, the waiters making lots of drama, 3 waiters come and go each of them brought a nonsense excuse, after 10 min arguing they said we only refill the side dish once for free and for each extra refill u need to pay 10 rm. The idea is if we sit on 2 table, they would bring us two set of side dish service. Which is nonsense. We ordered 5 meals and 4 drinks, why should I argue for a simple pickle in front of my guests?! I don't mind to pay a little extra but arguing with waiter on refilling pickles is a definite NO ! They are not giving the right information that the customer need. I have to extract information from them. For every request they make drama, even I ask the waiter to bring 4 spoons, instead of 4 spoons he brought 3 and then I have to ask him again, he show me a very bad look and pointing on 3 spoons, I remind him we ask for 4, then he counts and he found he made a mistake then he brought the last one. The food was taste good, the decoration is very nice, but sadlly staff are not well trained and they can not maintain the customer relationship. I hope they improve the trainings...
Read moreThis was my second visit to Sweetree Ampang, and unfortunately it turned out to be a very disappointing experience. I brought my family thinking we could enjoy a nice BBQ dinner, but it turned out to be a complete disaster.
We ordered the BBQ set for 4–5 pax. The service was extremely bad, we had to wait for more than an hour before actual food was served (we only got few side dishes and had to eat those while waiting) and even when the meat was served, the meat didn’t come all at once. Instead, it was served one by one with long gaps in between, which really ruined the flow of the meal. On top of that, they didn’t even serve the salad and dressing that are supposed to come first and be eaten together with the meat. This is something so basic that any BBQ restaurant should never overlook.
The staffs seemed confused and uncoordinated at one point, they even forgot what cuts of meat had already been served. The whole dining area felt chaotic, and instead of a comfortable family dinner, it became a stressful experience where we constantly had to follow up with the waiters.
Considering the reputation and price point of this restaurant, I honestly expected much better. My first visit here was fine, but this second time was such a letdown. The long wait, poor coordination, and lack of basic service made the whole experience unpleasant. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re looking for an enjoyable and well-managed...
