My recent visit to Sanga Japanese Restaurant was unfortunately a very disappointing one, especially considering the positive ratings we had seen online, which were the very reason we chose to dine there. This makes the experience all the more perplexing. The service was shockingly poor. Beyond simply delivering our food, the staff were virtually non-existent. There was no attentiveness, no checking in, and certainly no friendly interaction. It felt as though we were an inconvenience rather than valued customers. Adding insult to injury, the restaurant was incredibly noisy. While some ambient noise is expected, the staff's loud clanging and banging of utensils during cleanup was excessive and disruptive. It made conversation at our table nearly impossible; we could barely hear each other speak. This completely ruined the dining atmosphere. To compound the issues, the food itself was below average, especially considering the prices they charge. The quality simply did not justify the cost. I left feeling that I had significantly overpaid for a subpar meal and a thoroughly unpleasant experience. I would not recommend Sanga Japanese Restaurant based on this visit. The combination of inattentive service, an excessively noisy environment, and overpriced, underwhelming food, which starkly contrasts with the positive reviews we had seen, makes it a dining experience I won't...

Food 7/10 ( I don't want compare to authentic Japanese food in Japan) Atmosphere 8/10 Service 6/10 ( very slow serve of you order any grilled foods) Price $$
It is decent food. But if you want authentic food, .mmmm not really authentic But still tastes ok. Food portion was ok. In Kuching, I don't expect authentic Japanese food.
Sushi must use sushi rice But it was not sushi rice , too moisturized and not sticky. Miso soup was very mild with too much of MSG. Free green tea. found this Japanese restaurant through Google maps.

Read moreIt is rare when the actual food from a restaurant looks better than the photos in the menu. But that's the case here at Sanga.
I was pleasantly surprised that the tempura bento I ordered looked better and seemingly a bigger portion than the menu photo. Part of the reason is that the tempura pieces had more batter on them. Unfortunately, instead of the light and fluffy batter that coats a good tempura, the batter here was rather hard and crunchy instead. Probably too much flour and not chilled enough before deep frying.
The salmon maki on the other hand looked good and tasted good as well. The salmon pieces were bigger than I expected considering the drastic increase in salmon prices of late.
Last but not least, the saba bento tasted more average but still a good...
