Okay, let's be real, Lume Kopitiam in Kepayan has got the vibes down. The air-con is a blessing in this heat, and the atmosphere is definitely 'kopitiam-esque'. If you're looking for a place to chill with the AC and soak in the vibes, you're good to go. But let's talk food. Now, the polo pau... let's just say it saw better days. It felt like it had been hanging out in the fridge for a while, maybe even took a little nap. The butter? Eh, let's just say it wasn't winning any awards for flavor. Honestly, it was a bit of a let-down. And the bread? Poor thing looked like it had caught a chill. No plumpness, no bounce – just kind of… deflated. You could almost hear it saying "masuk angin" itself. We also tried the Portuguese egg tart. The custard inside was decent, but the crust? Forget about it. Soft, soggy, and definitely not the crispy, flaky dream we were hoping for. It felt like it had a little too much 'me time' overnight and was just reheated before serving. Drinks-wise, the cincau and hot chocolate were okay. The cincau was a bit too icy and could use a bit more oomph. The hot chocolate was overly sweet and lacked that rich, creamy chocolate goodness. Most of the drinks are too sweet. Overall? Lume Kopitiam is a decent spot to hang out. The normal kopitiam are way better and cheaper. And if you're coming for the food, maybe manage your expectations a little....
Read moreI would say it's a kopitiam but with more "atas" kinda feel, gotta say the air conditioned place make it more comfy to dine-in or a great hangout spot too. But be prepared with food/drinks to be sold pricey.
Food wise more to fusion Malaysian kinda food such as nasi ayam, char kuey teow, toast bread, pastries, kopitiam style of drinks and etc.
Much to my dissapoiment is the Mochi Egg Tart which it is just smaller than the size of my palm that sold at the price of Rm5.80 per tart (this is one expensive egg tart I ever tried in KK), eggy texture still acceptable while the mochi definitely added some gooeyness to it, however too sweet for my liking.
Nasi ayam penyet was good, the rice is fragrance (cooked with some coconut milk i guess?), fried chicken is crispy and not oily (served piping hot).
Ho Kar Sai tasted more coffee-ish to me, it overpowered the milo taste, I can't taste the balance...
Read moreThe polo bun is cold not even being heated back n the butter didn’t melt like before. The duck rice is cook almost ‘hangus’ version. Lao shu fun( if i am bot mistaken ) is also hangus and i wanted to ask why the sambal is put like that? Why not on a small plate Butter rice is also cooked till I don’t what it taste like Kam heong also the same like the butter chicken rice, even the egg is burnt on the bottom.
In other words semua masakan mau hangus2 suda
Portuguese egg tart wasn’t being heated, just got out of the food warmer n served. Before this the polo bun n the portuguese egg tart would be heated back so it would be served hot. Drinks are ok
