BreakTime - Penang Hill — Restaurant in George Town

This is one of the worst dining experience that I have in my life. It happened on Christmas Eve when I took my wife's family to a Christmas dinner. Hoping to have a wonderful time but instead had the worst experience because of the bad service and found dangerous objects in our food.

I don't understand what's in their mind: After we ordered, the waiter (older guy) served our food (soup and salad) forcefully. This happened when we asked him to wait for another 5mins because one of our family members had not arrived yet, but the waiter raised his voice and said NO! And he continued to bring in the food.

Although the soup and salad had been served, there was not enough cutlery on the table. We had to go to the counter to ask for forks and knives ourselves. Glasses for red wine were not adequate, they came in different shapes and sizes, including 2 plastic cups. Plastic cups for red wine? I don't remember any western food restaurants in or outside Malaysia serving their customers like this. Better don't call yourself Western Cottage, maybe can change to Kampung Cafe.

The next "worst" experience was that 2 of us (one is my wife and another her uncle) chewed on dangerous objects found in their food (Lamb racks). The dangerous objects were pieces of 2-3cm long of stainless steel ball scrub. The objects have sharp ends and it can cause harm and complications to one's body if one swallows it.

Instead of making a big hoo-ha, we tried to show it and explained our disappointment to the waitress (Ah Girl) and second time, to a guy at the counter but no one came back to us with an explanation on why the objects can appear in our food, basically they had no intention to explain at all. With great disappointment, NO ONE cared, not even the OWNERS of the restaurant, no one concerned about the wellbeing of us or whether if anyone got hurt by this "food".

Our main concern was that we found that no one came to our table to offer an apology or care about this awful error. Maybe this Kampung restaurant had taken our incident lightly. Fyi, we have taken multiple photos of the objects as evidence. Just in case if we change our mind to report it after this.

This is the first time and the last time we visit this restaurant. Anyone wants to go, you go at your own risk! This is totally unacceptable! Lousy Kampung Service!

p/s: Out of this awful service, a better service was provided by "Ah Girl" the waitress. You are very lucky...

My word... Don't learn the fine dine at your item... Useless! The environment is good! But match to economy menu! Do the menu as supposed to be like street western food is better...

I had been twice, I feel so wasted of your house... serving is good... food is so so...

The marinated of steak is too much of black pepper corn and stupid dried thyme... How to eat this? Steak preferred origins not the marinated.... 60/100 Doneness asking medium but rare... Failed, black pepper sauce is watering... Failed... No matter every house have the own recipe...

Roulade is nice, but give so much of mash potato for what???? Sauce is sweet, coat at the mash potato, failed, but the roulade is good, 80/100

Soup no doubt... Taste good!

Pop corn chicken is not pop corn... It's considered a nugget chicken already....

Juice is not fresh..... If don't know what I'm mean, drink yourself! Cold not Cold, like mamak stall taste

Anyway.. nothing to attract, but food overall...

During our recent visit to this restaurant, we encountered some disappointing incidents. First, a staff member took a photo of our group without seeking our consent, which made us feel uncomfortable. However, the most significant issue occurred when we celebrated a friend's birthday by singing a song. Shortly after, a worker approached us, asking if we wanted Crème Brûlée and instructed us to raise our hands if interested. We assumed it was a complimentary dessert, as the main meal had already been paid for. To our surprise, when we settled the bill, we were unexpectedly charged for the Crème Brûlée. This lack of transparency left a sour taste in our mouths, as we felt our consumer rights were disregarded. Overall, our experience at this restaurant was marred by these unfortunate incidents, and we left with a sense of disappointment...
