Simple dinner with scrumptious of good tasty quality food at Canton-I, Queensbay Mall. was fulfilling and satisfying and the bill has been taken care off too 😊
They have moved from Ground Floor (next to KFC on the left) to LEVEL 3 (lot used to host Sakae Sushi) lately due to cheaper rental.
Queensbay Mall management (CapitaLand) kindly take note that the AIR CONDITIONING for these lot require major attention. It’s hot and not cold at all when it’s full house.
TEN YEARS ago during Sakae Sushi 🍣 also same and TEN YEARS today NO IMPROVEMENT AT ALL.
We are the ultra regular patrons of Canton-I Q’bay, the manager / supervisor (ladies) shared with us their grouses too and they have made horrendous feedbacks to you and your team yet you turn to deft ears.
Don’t la practicing the Singapo lang attitude here in Penang - later KENA BOIKOT than only you know 🤣
We hope improvements can be feel in our next visit to Canton-I Q’bay, otherwise we will not hesitate to further escalating our concern DIRECTLY to your HQ in Singapore where we have good cables there to the upper management.
H I G H L Y R E C O M M E N D E D - 😊
Surplus after dinner - santai goyang goyang at Q1 // Q2 to catch a glimpse of our beloved Penang Old Ferry 😊

Read moreThis was my fav go to dim sum. But my recent visit for both bfast and dinner turned out to be disappointing. The dim sum we had used to be flavourful and juicy. The now dim sum turned out soggy, no ummami, full of salt and oil! It feels like it has been in the freezer for very long and the freshness of the food is really questionable. That's for my bfast.
And I wanted to give another try so I went for dinner. I ordered my fav chicken with dried chillies, ginger scallion fish and spinach soup. To my horror, the fish fillets they used were cheap fish with bones! Know what, they prior warned me about the bones I know. But the old canton I or dragon I doesn't give such disclaimer. They used to give thick quality fish fillets but now it was all camouflaged with flour!! And there is no need to pre warn your clients about the bones if your chef/kitchen helper has stringent quality check. Bones in fish especially for the price you are charging shouldn't even happen in the first place. Hawker stalls do better than you. Totally absurd. Needless to say the chicken aka popcorn chicken look alike was 90% flour 10% chicken. Oh dear.. what are the consumers even paying.. for flour?
The owner of this restaurant should revisit the real ethics when opening an eatery business. You can't establish trust to your customers, there won't be another chance even if you do...
Read moreThe setup is just like most Hong Kong's Restaurant style, with a simple seating arrangement, NOT too brightly lit with warm lightings and mirrors on the side walls to make it a more roomy atmosphere. We ordered their Vintage Pu Er, Plain Congee with Dried Scallop, Assorted Innards Congee, Steamed Minced Pork with water chestnut and mushroom, Stewed Sliced Fish with preserved vegetable. The yummy dish was the Stewed Fish with Preserved Vegetable. But the Plain Congee and Assorted Innards Congee was too thick and sticky. It felt and tasted like eating oats, but a bit of soup will resolve this issue and definitely will taste GOOD. The Pu Er is NOT full bodied, it's neither floral or nutty flavour, but it has a mild roasted tea taste. This newly moved restaurant from LG to 2nd Floor is suitable for a family, friends and colleagues to have dinner or lunch here... with the warm ambience and a hearty meal will definitely make one a happier person.
