To be honest, as a Penang lang. I actually feel this place offer some good Korean food. Here is my personal experience, take it with a grain of salt.
Price: Can be a little bit expensive if you compare to other places, but since it is in Queensbay. I guess you have to cover the store's rental fee?
Food: Went there like about 4-6 times with my partner. We order many different type of foods, from kimchi jiggae, pancake, ramen, etc. So far so good, no undercook/raw stuff, unhygienic stuff found. Maybe the food we ordered are the easiest one to cook? tips: don't order drink then u get some plain water bottle.
Waiter: The service is okay. I guess if you smile to them, they treat you nicer? When ask to refill the side dishes, they are happy to give.
Sidenote: I heard there is a culture in Korea that their restaurant is recycling unfinished sidedish especially after covid period, that can cause a serious health problem. Hopefully they do not practice it here in Malaysia. Hopefully owner can see this review and monitor their employees more, and other Malaysian can help to see if they really recycle those sidedish.. Lol... will not go back there before it...
Read moreMy family loves Korean food since the airing of Jewel in the Palace. Our favorite Korean restaurants are in other parts of Penang. Today, decided to try CDJ in Queensbay Mall.
Reading the menu and finding out that this restaurant chain originated from S. Korea, my wife and I had high hopes on the food to come. Sadly our expectations were not met. Let me describe why.

The bean sprout dish also lacks the usual sesame oil aroma typical of a Korean bean sprout side dish. Only authentic side dish - kimchi. Mind you - my reference is on Korean meals I had in S. Korea during my travels.
Main dishes - doenjang jjigae was served in a very small bowl and very salty; but the BBQ samgyeopsal came out perfect.
The housekeeping was also poor despite the place not being busy when we went in ~3pm Labor Day long weekend. If the proprietor knows Korean food business, then I attribute what I described above to leaving the place to be handled entirely by...
Read moreCan be quite pack during peak hours. Helpful staff that help us refill our favorite side dishes few times. Here’s what we tried :
Kimchi Jjigae ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Sourish appetizing soup with generous ingredients inside.
Steamed Egg ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Piping hot and wonderfully steamed korean styled egg.
Jap Chae ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Well seasoned with generous vegetables. The noodles doesn’t dried up or harden or too soggy.
Grilled Pork Belly ⭐️⭐️⭐️ It was decent, the Gurney Paragon branch made them better.
Grilled Saury Fish ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Quite fishy but those who loved such specific flavors will enjoy this very much. Expect a lot tiny bones than your typical Saba/Mackerel fish.
Overall we enjoyed the meal and...
