I love the quiet comfortable vibe this restaurant exudes. Tables are spaced adequately and it's a great place to meet with friends if conversation is the aim, as the place doesn't have distractingly loud music.
The menu is simple and easy to read while most importantly the service from the staff is exemplary and immaculate. Being predominantly wine centered, they only have 1 type of beer on hand, but fortunately coffee, tea and some juice are available for those not really into wine.
Coming to the food, we started off with bread and I must I say I absolutely loved the 'burnt' butter. Also, I enjoyed the 2 starters I ordered. The pork tongue was surprisingly tender and beautifully flavoured. The apple gave an interesting zest to the dish which perked up my appetite. The gambas was light, the fresh prawns were delicious and the garlic soft. The olive oil I felt was a little light. I would enjoy it more if the olive oil had a heavier presence but that's just me.
The sausage came next, beautifully grilled with a nice crispy charred skin imparting a delightful slightly bitter burnt taste to the meat. Then came my mains. The seafood catch of the day had the usual suspects of prawn, squid, fish and some veggies. Loved the portion and enjoyed the sauce. A bit salty but otherwise had a good balance and yummy.
I made a small mistake with my next orders for being too dry. One dry dish is ok but two was stretching the capacity of my taste buds. I found the schnitzel delicious. Thin and crispy with a nice crunchy batter. The meat was surprisingly juicier than I expected seeing the thinness of the meat with relation to the batter. Even though dry, it had an accompanying salad so it wasn't all that bad.
It was, however, my first time eating their Kaesepsatzle. On the internet (not this restaurant), the dish looks wet, here, it was dry. Blame it on my inexperience but I couldn't enjoy it much. Perhaps it needs to be enjoyed in another manner but I digress. Small note that the staff should've looked at my order and warned me of the 2 dry dishes and my inexperience of ordering them at one go.
Generally I loved their quiet relaxing atmosphere, their friendly staffs and an incredible place I feel to have wine and convo...
Read moreThe environment is private and warm, making it a cozy spot to enjoy a meal. The owner and staff are very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, which really adds to the overall experience. The restaurant is small, catering to a limited number of customers, ensuring there’s no compromise on quality or service.
We were first served bread with cheese and a homemade spread, which was excellent. For our mains, we ordered Wiener Schnitzels, Kässpatzle, and roast beef. It was my first time trying schnitzel, and I found it really good. My boyfriend, who had similar dishes in Europe before, felt it wasn’t quite up to that standard, but still enjoyable. The roast beef was tender and delicious, while the noodles in the Kässpatzle weren’t my favorite, though the flavor was still very good. The sides were perfect, especially the Gurkensalat, which stood out.
One of the highlights was how the staff took time to explain each dish, including the ingredients and cooking process — something we truly appreciated.
Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience, and I would highly recommend Christoph’s for anyone looking for quality food and a warm,...
Read moreVery nice Austrian food. We went here twice although we only stayed George Town for four days. It’s convenient for us to go there because I just stayed this restaurant’s neighbour. The host of the hotel recommended us to try the Austrian food. I have to say that both the salad and main course are delicious. Even it’s better than what I ate in Austria . The only thing is that the white wine is not my expectation. Perhaps the reason is that I drink a lot in London , so this white wine is not amazing for me. The price is very nice. Cheaper than Austria indeed. My parents love the food. The staff of this restaurant is quite nice. A young boy is shy, but quite nice. The chef is very friendly to introduce everything. But the boss is busy to talk other western guests. Perhaps we only speak English not his mother language. Anyway, try it when you eat too many Naynaa food, Chinese food or Indian food.
Beef, must try. My mum loves it. Fried pork, sorry, no idea how to speak Austria, i named this dish as the national dish, because i went to Austria, can find it anywhere. The taste...
