I have to say, this was some of the best Indian food that I’ve had in quite some time. We are new to this particular area of Pinang and went in on whim for an impromptu dinner date at night.
First off, the atmosphere was cool. They had an interesting ceiling light display that was quite enchanting. We were greeted at the door and had our choice of seats. After reviewing the menu for a while we settled on the:
Dhall Tarkha Bamboo Briyani (lamb)
Tandoori Roti Keema Naan
For drinks my wife had the Ice Lemon Tea and I decided to try the Teh tarik.
Oh. My. Gosh.
The flavors of the Dhall Tarkha was quite pleasant and the lamb in the Bamboo Briyani was so tender I wondered where this dish was hiding at my whole life. Most times, lamb in dishes like these are a little too tough but this lamb melted on top of our tastebuds.
The spices weren’t hot but actually full of some many wonderfully flavors, I really don’t know were to begin. Wait, yes I do. The flavors were deliciously intriguing. Yum!
The staff was pleasant and helpful. We really enjoyed talking and eating in a relaxed but somehow engaging atmosphere.
They mentioned they recently switched ownership and it shows. Keep up the bombastic flavors and service you all! We will be coming back for sure.
Special notes: As of today (8/9/24) be sure to bring cash or have touch and go installed-I was told by the manager they are in process of getting their new p.o.s. system all set up.
Thanks...
Read moreFound this place on Google recommendation and went to try their food. Reached there at around 2:30pm, almost closing after lunch. We were given a seat and a menu was given to us, we ordered our food i.e. mutton roghan josh, butter masala paneer, Hyderabadi briyani, garlic naan and for desert we ordered mango kulfi and gajar halwa. After taking our order we were served with papad & chutney as a starter. Food arrived after a short wait, the garlic naan was very nice and soft, the mutton was also tender and cooked to perfection but little bit bland for my taste so I requested for some green chillies. Next was the paneer butter masala and it was great, loved the taste. The briyani was cooked well with ample mutton in it. All in all the food was really good. What I loved the most was the gajar halwa and mango kulfi, they were simply great tasting. Prices are on the higher side of the scale but it's worth paying for the quality once in a while. Recommended to try at least once for either...
Read moreHad an absolutely flavorful experience at d’Tandoor Restaurant Penang! From the moment we walked in, the aroma alone told us we were in for a treat. The food? Rich, authentic, and bursting with spices every bite was a celebration of Indian cuisine. I would’ve given 5 stars, but hey, there’s always room for perfection.
Special shoutout to Azam, who was our server for the evening his service was on point! Friendly, attentive, and made sure we were well taken care of. The service overall was solid, but Azam’s warm and professional attitude truly stood out.
The atmosphere was decent cozy and clean, but perhaps a little tune-up in the lighting or music could elevate the vibe to match the food’s energy.
All in all, a place worth visiting, especially if you’re a fan of bold flavors and great hospitality. Would definitely come back and ask for Azam again!
