Any place that puts a number on their name might seem a little narcissistic and presumptuous, but I had to try it out for myself. Eating dim sum alone or with one or two persons isn't ideal, as you won't be able to savour everything the place has to offer. In my case, it was a party of 6, which affords the opportunity to order a bigger variety.

The location at Precinct 10 is bestowed with ample parking space in the courtyard parking in front, though many opt to park outside along the road where parking is cheaper.

During peak dining hours, there might be a wait of up to 30 minutes for a table. On weekends, this happens all through the day.

You will be greeted with a mid sized dining room that screams "I am Chinese" at you in neon signs and postmodern staccato posters, and a Chinese gate complete with a gold dragon too. And if that wasn't enough, diners can actually dress themselves in traditional Chinese costumes and have their pictures taken at the various wall decorations in the dining area. Smart idea, especially for this FB, IG and TikTok generation.

But the highlight for me was definitely the food. Freshly made to order dim sum is their unique selling point, and it's evident in every dish. The standards are all here; plump, juicy har gow, siew mai, and the ubiquitous char siew pau. Every dish we ordered was served piping hot, and tasted very good. But that's not all,

While the steamed items are served in the traditional bamboo steam basket, the fried and plated items were given a different treatment altogether. The food presentation is out of this world as you are served your fried prawn dumplings with a bonsai tree, your Chee cheong fun on a bamboo raft, complete with a scholarly looking Chinese figurine. While some may say it's over the top, it does make pretty pictures.

The radish cake was another highlight for me. Superbly fried with the right amount of smokiness and spiciness. Braised chicken feet was a treat, lor mai kai was perfect and don't forget to end with the Portuguese tarts which were very good indeed.

Prices here are not cheap like before, and it's understandably so. Costs have gone up across the board for everyone, and you get a mini theme park in the process, so I'd say it was pretty reasonable.

This place has earned a "must visit" in my list of restaurants whenever I am...

Three of us enjoyed our brunch with Dim Sum delicacy. We loved the steamed egg yolk custard bun as the egg flowed out as you bite but the stickyness onto the paper cup made eating messy. On the other hand, the shanghai else steamed meat dumpling was easy to eat at one gulp using the spoon. Taste delicious when hot. (be careful!). The handmade fish ball was very springy & soft. 👍 The century egg minced meat congee was well cooked but too plain with hardly any ingredient. Did not attract us! I like the BBQ honey pork rice Noodle Roll which tasted well with the special chilly. The deep fried yam puff will melt in your mouth. Big prawn was used for filling the Siu Mai King. Yumi, yumi!

Overall, we found the dim sum among the best in town. Prices were on the high side, portions were small. The environment was noisy during peak hours for one to enjoy one's meal peacefully. Note. Only two single toilets for each sex which is hardly sufficient. Parking is easy during daytime.

15 Jan 2024 We arrived around 11am for brunch. If you want better service, visit during a less crowded time. As usual the food is good. I noticed decorations were added to some dishes to enhanced the quality & professionalism. Of the dishes we ordered, steamed egg york custard buns, baked crispy bbq honey pork puff, deep fried yam puff stood out to me. The others were good too, namely siu mai king, phoenix claws, pork ball, stir fried radish cake and egg plant with meat paste. The prices had increased a bit. Hope they'll remain within affordable range for the regular...

This restaurant prides itself in freshly made-to-order dim sum which I find to be a rare thing. With that in mind, expect to have a waiting time of 10 to 30 minutes after ordering before your first order arrives at your table depending on how many orders are ahead of yours. The fried radish cake was well executed with mixed texture of crispy skin covering soft, fluffy insides, and the fried taro dumplings offered a similar experience with a sweet and savoury char siew filling. Shrimp dumplings were sweet with fresh shrimp filling and a hint of cilantro. The phoenix claws (chicken feet) were almost overly tender and looked like it was falling apart on the plate. The last dish to arrive after 30 minutes was the deep fried sesame coated red bean paste dumpling which was piping hot off the fryer, but mostly due to the fact that the kitchen missed it, and they needed a reminder. Pricing is higher compared to the typical open air dim sum places, and to be fair it's a different eating experience. My only complaint is actually the decoration. The mixture of a large blue and red neon sign and warm down lights over tables and chairs that feel like they were retained from when the place used to be a steamboat restaurant; Chinese traditional art posters on walls and dividers; placement of display cupboards that partially cover larger non-traditional art screams an urgent need for a tasteful makeover with a consistent theme. On the plus side, it is air-conditioned so you won't sweat while you drink your hot Chinese tea.
