Update 1: Tried the ribeye steak and chose the garlic sauce to go with it. A good piece of meat, done medium as I wanted it, beautifully pink in the middle. I opted for the fries to go with it and they were freshly made and tasted great. My wife went with the risotto smoke duck. The rice was more akin to fried rice than a risotto but tasted quite nice. The Cordon Bleu of my daughter was brilliant as usual. Prompt, helpful service accompanied the tasty food, so I will stay with the 5 🌟👏🍻.
Excellent Penang style western food. If a 'purist' questions the authenticity of this being western food, then the answer should be a 'yes, it is!'. James Foo offers a tasty hybrid that marries western food to the local's evolved palate born from eating foods of different cultures from a very young age. On the menu you will find a hat tip to that as well 👒 ⭐. My family and I had the Garlic Pork, Pork Cordon Bleu and the Tandoori Chicken set with bao. Each one was flavourful with the meats tenderised well and yummy sauces to make for a great lunch. The fries were excellent. The Vanilla Milkshake, Lime Lychee Soda and Ice Lemon Tea were fabulous and not overly sweet 😋🧋. The rates are realistic and you don't feel like you've been taken to the cleaners 💵 as with some establishments in Penang. For that alone an applause should be in place 👏😆. We enjoyed our lunch, the attentive and quick service and the relaxed atmosphere of the...
Read moreThe worse Western Food in Penang, the taste of the food is worse than those kopitiam prepare chicken chop. The price you pay definitely not worth the food they serve. if you think the western food serve at Goodall cafe is so so, than you definitely don't want to visit here as the food here is even worse. Used to be good now is completely different, sad to say is getting worse for the quality & portion of food they served. The meat they serve is cold, even the sos also cold, I don't know whether they still use 🔥/electric stove to cook food ! They do confuse me whether am I eating Sushi or chicken chop ?? Kinda feel like eating food take out halfway warm from oven.
The only good thing I would say about this place is the service they provide and environment is comfortable.
Mind those good reviews here as you can see a lot of MALAY reviewer say "NICE" BUT THIS IS NOT A HALA RESTAURANT; seriously doubt the owner fake/Pay the reviews and rating here. Saw a lot of food poisoning reviews here, unfortunately my daughter also having stomach ache after taking the food, dam regret didn't read the review here beforehand. Advice for owner, you really should hire new chief if you still thinking of running the business for long term.. I won't come back again and definitely NOT recommend this restaurant if you are looking for...
Read moreThis is 2nd time I visited this restaurant (James Foo @ Precinct 10, Penang). I am very disappointed with their service, two times in a row!
We made a booking for 13 person, but were to find out there's no table reserved for us and after waited 15 min we ended up sitting in separated tables...
The most disappointing part is that the food are not served by order sequence, in same table some food are served much earlier and others are only served after 3 times of reminder and after 30+ minutes when others had finished their food. It's not due to CNY crowd, it's the kitchen's serving system, cause this is happening both times I visited them.
Booked a table for 7:30pm, last 3 dishes served 9pm, ended up leaving the restaurant 9:20pm...
Will definitely not visit again. Will definitely not recommend to my friends and family.
p/s: I do pity the staffs here who have to work under such a lousy system... shame...
