Garden Inn Hotel — Hotel in George Town

Hi Folks, to my 50k plus readers, its April 2018 and I chose this hotel for official convenience as the “Bangunan Persekutuan” government departments are nearby. ||Just walking distance of 5mins away. So after the official work just walk back to the hotel. The rooms are are quite large and amenities are ample. Lack a bottle of water.||They have water heater in the bathroom. Soap dispenser. ||Nothing more. No wardrobe but they have the clothes hangers with a railing which you can conveniently hang your shirts and pants.||Wifi is good and TV subscription is mediocre.||The staff at the reception and helpful and cheerful.||There is no room service. No worries, just walk out take a left....all the Penang style food are available if you just walk down then take another left head towards the junction of Jalan Zainal Abidin. Then left and right you will see shops and food court. Further down is street food all you can eat, just avoid the stalls where non originals are trying to cook Chinese food and mamak meals. That’s a given fact. Enjoy the char Koey Teow, Chee Cheong fun, Kuih Kak, char hor fun, law mee, clam meat with egg fry and etc....all there. For the vegetarian along the same street is a great choice of 2 vegetarian restaurants that give all the non veg menu in Vegetarian menu. Trust me, i am an ex-non veg so just use the google “vegetarian restaurant near me” and you will find “Lily’s Vegetarian Restaurant “. This restaurant deserves a separate review which I will do right after this review. ||So the hotel is really suitable for Business, leisure and even religious tour as several temples and churches are nearby besides the mousques.||Not to forget good laundry service for a fee.||7 eleven is nearby to. The hotel is also well known for its spa, my friend found it decent and professional.||Enjoy...

Good location with on-site parking. On the other hand, cleanliness needs to improve: bathroom is stained, towels are not bleached, hairs strung around floor. No bedbugs thankfully. Also very little to none soundproofing, do not recommend getting hot and heavy without "White" noise. Can literally hear what the next doors are doing or talking about. Shower is hot, but my unit had a bare wire near the shower head thus had to hold a concert the whole bathing session, no hands free shower comprende? Fire exit aka stairs blocked by laundry pile. Lift fits 4 average sized humans. May need to wait for few rounds of lifts at the wrong moment. Wifi? Better get a data sim pack from 7eleven. But, price is good for a hotel so near to town. Food stalls within walking distance. Japanese restaurant on ground floor if you fancy. Ample parking though if you drive an SUV you may have competition unless you park at the back of the hotel in the dark. Water dispensing machine: yessssssssss! It even dispenses cold and hot water, this a plus point. Self service laundry station available, small fee to be paid, detergent available. Some reviewers commented on the snappiness of the receptionist, oh come on she's fine, that's just local hospitality. Late check in available, need to inform prior. Check out at 12pm. Deposit MYR50.00 required prior check in at the reception. Refunded in full after the cleaning staff checks the room...

Stayed for 3D2N Dec2023 Room very spacious and comfortable but looks old and need refurbish. Lack of amenities (only hand soap and shower cap). Good thing is they have COWAY near the lift. If your room quite far from lift, might need to request for kettle at front desk. You will also need to request for hair dryer, and at the front desk as it is not provided in the room Staffs lack of hospitality and one of them is very rude (chinese girl around mid 20s with glasses)!!!. I asked her which one is the hotel wifi cause I'm unable to connect to all the listed lines. Not only she HESITATE to help to resolve this issue, she had the audacity to ask me "why your phone dont get lor?". At least have some courtesy to check and confirm which one is your hotel's wifi line name??. GOD, THE S.T.U.P.I.D.I.T.Y AND ARROGANCE OF THIS STAFF IS THE WORST IN THIS PLANET. Not sure how she got the job with that attitude, but to the owner, I suggest you to conduct 'customer service rapport courses '...
