1 Star would be an overstatement due to the rude and racist comment by the staff which didn't sound like malaysian at all. Walked in with my chinese girlfriend for a meal, but straight away told my girlfriend that cant dine upstairs only downstairs. We said okay moving to the seat, the guy in the counter shouted "WOI" twice to me. When i turn around and asked did u just called me "WOI" He just said owh no no. Telling me i can sit, I understand he was waiting for food pick up rider and assumed i was a rider that pick up the food. The thing that pissed me off is instead of asking if i am dining he straight away assumed and Called me "WOI". THERE IS A LEVEL OF DISRESPECTFUL. I WAS GOING TO BE A PAYING CUSTOMER. TO THE OWNER OF THE RESTAURANT, I STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU TO PUT A NOTICE SAYING NO OTHER RACE ALLOWED HERE AND TEACH YOUR STAFF MINIMAL AMOUNT OF RESPECT TO PAYING CUSTOMER. THE OWNERS INTELLIGENCE IS SHOWN BY STAFF ATTITUDE. I APOLOGIZE IF MY WORDS ARE HARSH BUT UNDERSTAND HOW I FELT AFTER BEING TREATED...
Read moreWe held out until the day we left before having our lunch at Luosi Snail. There are just too many good food in Penang to try.
We ordered just one bowl of their Signature spicy sour noodle to try and the taste was pretty good. My fiancée felt that the noodles are a tad too tough. We opt for less spicy (小辣) and it wasn't that spicy and didn't work up a sweat.
The restaurant is clean with white and black theme. The staff stood behind the counter mostly and you scan the QR code on the table to order. Food is served promptly. They do enforce a strict no outside food policy.
One of the review I read said that their take away had the soup and noodle placed together. Upon arriving at destination, the soup has been absorbed by the noodle.. well the store hear you. I saw several take aways have the soup and noodles packed separately.
I may try this store again on my next visit but there are just too many good food to try in Penang. This has to...
Read moreI had to be honest by saying I'm not a good judge of this subtype of noodle as I believe the taste is acquired and I don't see much fuss about snail noodle beyond the smell. The texture of the noodles are typically bouncy and smooth while the toppings are your typical empty luosi accompaniment such as bamboo shoots, black fungus, water convolvulus, preserved mustard greens, peanuts and some sort of cracker. They did include the fried nest eggs together but it wouldn't have hurt to include some snail meat as standard package instead going semi vegetarian. The soup is mildy sour, spicy and savoury. That being said, others with more refined pallete gave it a thumbs up while I find it to be above the last few similar dish I had. The environment is pretty clean and comfy with the dishes being nicely presented. I guess this is the standard pricing in Malaysia now.
