Jelutong Sunshine Kopitiam — Restaurant in George Town

went to Jelutong Sunshine Kopitiam this morning for their famous 3 flavours wanton mee with family.

While waited for our orders, I was attracted by the eye catching lights and colours from a Hokkien Mee stall which I was being told that they had just started their business here about a month ago only.

We ordered a bowl of standard Hokkien Mee (with more prawns, full egg and pork belly slices) cost RM9.00 and another RM3.00 for additional pork slices. The order came in a very generous portion and most importantly is the soup given was quite a lot too.

Honestly, the first sipping of the soup was unlike those famous ‘Cloud Mari’ or ‘Sxpxr’ kind that will impressed your tastebuds with the strong aroma and spiciness. But by continuing eating with the noodles and ingredients, it really blends well and it gives you the kind of home cooked ‘kochabi’.

One thing that I’d like to give a thumbs up is the shallots was deep fried by them, the egg was nicely cooked to perfection, sprouts and water spinach too were given generously.

I would personally recommend this Hokkien Mee stall to Hokkien Mee lovers and I would give a try to their dried version of Hokkien...

The char koay teow was GOOD! 2 big fresh prawns & plump siham (cockles). 1 plate only RM6 (no egg). My only complain is it's quite small portion.

Came here to try the wantan mee but was told there's a 45 min wait. I thought it's because they have a lot of customers but after observing, they're just very slow 😅 but im glad i decided not to wait for the wantan mee cos I found the delicious char koay teow 👍🏻

The kopi peng kaw is nice too & not expensive. The lady taking orders a lil inexperienced? Had to explain a few times before she understood our orders (we only ordered 3 kopi, nothing complicated)

Very limited food choice. Only wantan mee & char koay teow were open. Maybe other stalls not open in the morning.

I'm giving 5 star just for the Wantan mee guys. I knew this wantan mee stall since they was in chew jetty. This is one of the best wantan noodles in town! I never miss to give a visit when I drop back home. The owners are friendly and cheerful too. I just love their wantan noodles taste and their soup wantan is very different from other sellers.
