Slow service, only kueh is not bad but the ice kacang and chendol are just not good enough and too pricey over here. Will not come again. Tourist beware!
Updated review as on 10 Sept 23:25Hrs:
It seemed like the owner replied unhappily for customer’s negative review. Not just me, it is quite evident from many others that service is slow and food quality does not meet expectation. I have then reduced to simply 1 star instead of 2. This credits very much to the owner’s super poor reaction to customer’s feedback. Instead of helping the situation, they turn around to uncalled-for and sarcastic remarks.
My reply to their respond as follows:
I am quite rich and I don’t mind paying for very nice home-made chendul and ice kacang however for your standard, it is simply overpriced compared to those selling in front of your shop at the streets.
Served in a cafe environment with clean floors, tables and chairs and with air-condition?
Reply: Can I ask if this is a restaurant focusing very much on every other thing except food quality? Abit our of focus right?
Reply: Perhaps you should really get the facts right in the first place. We went in at 10am sharp when the shop just open and we were the first customer, not so crowded at all but service was still slow by the 3 staffs in the shop. Their movement was so slow until we have to even ask how long they need to get that can of 100-plus out from that fridge. Incredible right?
Summary: Reflection on the owner strongly required. Review solely for customer’s...
Read moreIt may look like any average kuih cafe, but Kuih Culture is anything but!
My friends and I visited Kuih Culture on a Friday noon and was immediately greeted by the friendly staff. The cafe was filling up quickly but we managed to snag a table.
We ordered some of the kuihs, chenduls, and two hot foods which their staff recommended us their signature Nasi lemak Malaysia and Mee Goreng Mamak.
As for the chendul we ordered, all of the ingredients are homemade. Their chenduls is a bowl of desserts which is full of rich flavor. Their Gula Melaka was sweet but not overpowering the sweetness of the red beans. When our desserts arrived, our expectations continued to be exceeded. The portions of Mee Goreng Mamak is quite big for us while their Nasi Lemak' sauce tastes slightly sweet and spicy. By the end of the meal, we were planning on our next visit.
Don’t let the negative reviews of others fool you—it's like the old saying never judge a book by its cover. This place is easy to find and is totally perfect for groupies to hang out and for couples to have a casual date.
Psst...When we browse the web to understand more about Kuih Culture we did hesitate and plan to pass it but we did go and have a try for ourselves and felt lucky that we never listen to those negative reviews if not we'll miss out such a good place to have meals...
Read moreNice concept to get all popular penang nyonya savouries in one place. However, kuih choices are limited. Service is slow, not crowded at all when we were there but takes 20min or more to serve. Chendol is tasteless and Nasi lemak, Nyonya curry chicken is just average. Fried Spring roll is freshly done and the Laksa soup is delicious. However, when they serve the food, I had to remind them about the sambal petai prawn ordered. Upon checking with kitchen, the waiter came back and told us sambal petai prawn is not available today. Hmmm, a let down I must say. It means front counter and kitchen lack communication. The waiter offered to exchange for otak otak but we declined and get a refund. Good marketing initiatives and the kuih making workshop for kids and all are creating more awareness and education about penang specialty. But with the price of food, I could get better options at hawker stall or market. Recommended for tourists but not local who really crave for the strong authentic distinctive traditional taste that brings back memories or makes you come back for more. There are room for...
