I recently visited a charming local eatery where I had the chance to try some truly flavourful dishes. We ordered a variety of items, including the Kam Heong Mantis Prawn, Sweet Potato Leaves, Bitter Gourd with Salted Egg, and Ginger Fish. The Bitter Gourd with Salted Egg stood out as the highlight of the meal. The bitterness of the gourd was perfectly balanced with the rich, savoury flavour of the salted egg, creating a deliciously unique dish that was both comforting and satisfying. It's definitely a dish worth ordering again. The Kam Heong Mantis Prawn was another standout. The prawns were cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside, and infused with a savoury, slightly spicy sauce that was incredibly aromatic. The Sweet Potato Leaves were simple yet flavourful, sautéed with garlic to bring out their natural sweetness. The Ginger Fish was fragrant with a gentle kick of ginger, and the fish itself was fresh and tender. Aside from the food, the service was exceptional. The owner was incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home throughout our visit. The prices were very reasonable considering the quality and portion sizes, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, this restaurant offers a wonderful taste of traditional flavours with a personal touch. If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping by for a satisfying meal and friendly...

Tucked away in between a florist and a child tuition center sits this small restaurant that seems to be an extension of an existing building. There's about enough space for 6 cars right in front of the driveway in front of the shop. Otherwise you can park across the road or nearby.

The dining area is a simple layout along this long shoplot. The kitchen is right at the back behind the counter. Tables are spaciously placed along the walls on both sides and you can be sure you're either near a wall fan or an air conditioner.

The menu is not extensive, but they do highlight specials on a small blackboard which are not on the menu. The very friendly and helpful boss lady will gladly help explain the dishes and recommend.

I ordered the cereal chicken, kung po mantis prawns, kangkong sambal, taufoo with minced pork and marmite chicken. Portions were adequate, and had a home cooked feel to each dish. It made me want to come back again to try the other dishes before actually start recommending which dish to go for.

Price wise was really inexpensive. The five dishes I had with 3 rice and drinks came up to around RM90 only. And it fed the 4 of us well.

It's not on the radar of outstation visitors and seems to be only known to Penangites. I hope it stays that way, as this local gem is too good to be...

An honest little family restaurant in the heart of Pulau Tikus. Delicious dishes and decent portion sizes. Actually a good deal better than most of the family restaurants and admittedly better than the ones in KL. Dirt cheap as well. Food was good enough that I forgot to take pictures.

Modest open air dining space with sufficient fan cooling. Clean and well kept. Handwashing station and toilet facilities available. Toilet facilities could be managed better but is par for the course in this area.

The staff were courteous and helpful during our visit. My sole criticism is the longer than usual wait before the food actually arrived at our table. I believe this may be due to the restaurant being understaffed.

Can honestly say that this is one of the few hidden gems in the Pulau Tikus area. Delectable food and rock bottom prices means you really get a good bang for your buck. Based on this positive experience, I will remember to come here again the next time I...

Friendly staff and well-seasoned seafood just off Burma Road. There's a few parking spaces right in front of the place (a good six or so), which is more than most along this stretch, but you'll have to shift if the inside patrons finish before you. Food is superbly tasty and nicely cooked - the char hor fun is outstanding with just the right amount of char and wok burn and sauce proportion; the yolk fried prawns are tender and crispy; the salt and pepper are overpowering. Oh yeah, it's a little on the salty peppery side, hence well seasoned. To be fair, you're getting a big dose of cholesterol, so what's a little extra salt and pepper right? Perhaps it might be worth exploring balancing the salt and pepper and spice with a little citric tang or something to cut the oil and heavy gravy. Pricing is decent - that massive bowl of Char Hor Fun is less than RM10! Great value, nice service and a hearty warmth.
