Tao Kae Noi caffe ( Thai Steamboat ) — Restaurant in George Town

Eating here is an experience that has to be shared with friends, and one of those cases where it's the more the merrier (even if it's just so you can take turns cooking). The highlight is the sour chili-based sauce they have, which makes every bite of pork pretty darn juicy, even if you've left it on the grill for a little bit too long. If you get the cheese-filled meatballs, try to eat it in one bite, because biting into it might make the cheese squirt out of some unseen hole in a random direction. That's a lesson I learnt, and take it from me, the sight of spilled cheese...

Apart from the raging diarrhoea post-meal, this place is really good value and opens really late which is nice.

Chill Thai steamboat place on Jalan Siam (fittingly enough) with seating all along the road. Raw food is well packed and soup base is decent. Each set comes with lots of stuff, and only works out to be RM20/pax.

Drinks are all super-sized! If you're thirsty, this is the place for you. Try the sour plum juice. Only RM9 for a massive cup!

Just be careful with the incredibly tasty chilli sauce...
