I've been waiting until I left Malaysia to write this review so I could see how Karaikudi compared to other Indian food you can get in the country but there honestly is no comparison...
By far this is the nicest Indian food not just in Malaysia, but that I've ever had (and I am a half Indian male who's grown up with homemade Indian food).
We got the mutton biriyani, butter chicken, tandoori chicken, garlic naan, samosas and masala tea.
The biriyani and butter chicken were insanely good, and a great combo together along with the raita! The flavours were so rich and deep and you could tell the food was made with love by experts at their craft.
The tandoori chicken, garlic naan and samosas were all delicious and very authentic tasting too - I'm from the UK where Indian food is pretty good but this was a whole other level of quality.
Karaikudi was recommend to me by a local, and it did not disappoint. So I want to make sure that I also pass on the message of how high the quality of food is here!
If you're after Indian food in George Town do not skip!
Thank you...
Read moreAn Honest Critique here,
Went here based on all the reviews as my parents wanted authentic indian coffee when we were in town. The drinks were fine and average, ambiance was decent with a cozy vibe. Unfortunately, it was a turnoff when the service for just drinks was almost 40 mins while the restaurant wasn’t packed.
Waiter wasn’t very friendly or even warm at all in-fact was taking the order as if he was forced to take our order.
Seems like they treat foreigners or their regulars better THAN new customers coming in from out of town better. (Like in our case)
Word of advice to the owners, Please train your staff to be pleasant with your customers. Do not pick favourites, or you might never know when a potential loyal customer might walk in. Furthermore, no one is having a free meal, everyone expect to leave with a full stomach and good words to spread around. (Too bad for me I guess).
To future customers, Lower your expectations if you are going here, or look around you might just find somewhere nicer. After all, it is the HUB of good food. 😉👍🏽

Read moreWe popped into Karaikudi on the launch day of their Deepavali specials, and the staff did a fantastic job of introducing us to the different dishes available. We were thoroughly impressed with the flavors and presentation of the food. The restaurant was also very clean, and the service was excellent.
As we approached the restaurant, we were greeted by the festive music playing outside. Once inside, we found ourselves in a quiet and peaceful oasis, shielded away from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. We loved the clean and organized interior of the restaurant.
Overall, we had a wonderful dining experience at Karaikudi. The delicious food, excellent service, and festive atmosphere made for a truly memorable evening. We would highly recommend Karaikudi to anyone looking for an authentic Indian meal in Penang.
I wish we took photos of our orders...
