Just a random pick to have Chinese food around Gurney. Last time was a little disappointing on food court near Gurney Plaza. For me it’s just overpriced and overhyped. Good spot for tourists.
Okay now this place offers a few good food. Some of them in Google reviews recommended to try the pancake (Apam Balik). It’s so yummy. The owner was so welcoming and friendly. He himself ask me to try the Egg Cheese Peanut flavour. Yes it was filling, creamy, a slight crunch and packed with flavours. So much of flavours that you can mix and match. I see people come here and have their dessert first before ordering their main course. I will definitely will drop by if I’m in this area.
Secondly, moving to main course😄 Ordered Grilled Fish with Chips from All Right Western Food. Run by 2 lady boss. They use dory fish and surprisingly there’s no any fishy smell. Cooked well and the boss offered me their homemade blackpepper sauce. Very mild pepper and slight thick sauce. I love their tartar sauce. Tangy and creamy. First time trying Chili Sauce Cap Tupai. Surprisingly it tastes good. A very fast spicy kick and it’s made in Bukit Mertajam, Penang. Good to see when locals support each other when they both offer a quality service and product.
Taking orders was fast and staffs there were helpful in letting know where’s the toilet, hand washing sink etc. Arrived here on Sunday around 5pm. Only have of them were open. Outside seating is mostly for grilling...

There are also classic Hainanese-style toast sets like Kaya Butter Toast or Peanut Butter Toast served with Half-Boiled Eggs. Other highlights include Char Kuey Teow, Yong Tau Foo, Thai food, Scallion Oil Noodles, Scallion Pancakes, Chee Cheong Fun, Nasi Lemak, Curry Mee, Hokkien Mee, Pancakes, Char Koay Kak, Roti Canai, Tosai, Chapati, and many more local favourites.
We ordered Chicken Kuey Teow Soup, Chicken Rice, and Dry Wanton Mee, and everything was served fresh and hot. The food ordering system is convenient, just order at the stall, give them your table number, and pay when your food is delivered.
In overall, this food court is a great place for a casual meal with plenty of choices to suit...
Read moreThe Shark Cafe is a spacious covered food court. Although it is not air conditioned, we do not feel hot. Thanks for the large air cooling fans and high roof. It offers most of the Penang signature street foods (eg Curry Mee, Hokkien Mee, Wanton Mee, Bak Kut Teh, etc.). We had the famous Kuantan Road Curry Mee. The store owner’s parents used to operate a curry Mee store at the Kuantan Road Market area and this is why they used the name of Kuantan Road Curry Mee. It is the authentic curry Mee and delicious. Each bowl is RM7 and it is good value-for money. We also had the famous Chee Cheong Fun which was made by the store owner, Mr Goh who was a chef of some famous hotels in Penang. He made his own Chee Cheong Fun sauces, which tasted good. As the store was not very busy at the time of our visit, we have a chat with Mr Goh and he gave us some tips for making good Hainanese Chicken rice. The hot Almond tea was good but black coffee...
