Chi-Gui Mala Hot Pot赤鬼麻辣火锅 — Restaurant in Johor

My first time visit this restaurant for steamboats with family members on the night before CNY Eve. The valet parking right infron of the restaurant only cost RM5 for 2hrs, very rereasonable. Once inside, the high ceiling with the western classic deco and coach giving a relax and cozy atmosphere. After seated, the friendly service staff will provide Ipad for ordering and explaining the differences in soup base choices. They have very wide dipping sauce, soup base and food selection, ranging from normal to exclusive. You get to mix your own dipping sauce or follow their recommended recipes, and it is charge at RM6/pax. Our table selected a twin style soup base of a medium tomato soup and a pork bones soup. The medium tomato soup base that we selected already very flavorful, and it gets thicker and thicker after boiling (that, I personally feel it's over, hence I recommend to select a light level from start). The pork bone soup (with smooth and soft jelly like pig blood pudding inside), on the other hands gets more and more flavourful, which is a good choice. The other table selected herbal chicken soup base (with ½ silkie chicken in it), also a good choice. The food serve are very fresh and nice, and we are all bloated after 2hours. But, that's not all, they've free desserts (fruits or Ice-cream). So, female who always have an extra stomach for dessert sure can't resist. The total bill.come up to RM1900+ for 14 of us. Overall, I personally enjoy their food served, service...

First off, the staff was singing to himself while serving us the food. If he want to sing, he could have head to one corner or after serving the food. He doesn't have to creep me out, i find it in particularly disrespectful. And singing while serving the food is a major red flag, especially when he's not wearing a mask, it brings a huge hygiene concern.

Next, every thing in this restaurant is in a 'premium' price just the soup base itself, can cost as much as a seoul garden adult buffet price in Johor. Meat quality and quantity also cant match HDL standard.

Cooking is also a disaster with the charcoal style, the soup was overcooked and burnt, its basically inedible afterwards.

I doubt i will patron back this restaurant again if the service or the cooking standard...

Quite disappointed with the service and freshness of the food.

Initially when they offered half pot for both tables we were thrilled. We thought we had to order two full pot as the table was long and we only had 4 adults and 3 children eating. So this was a great gestures.

The meat selection was good and tasted fresh, the fish was frozen when arrived. We ordered a full fish at the start of order and it came last. This was not acceptable.

There were no plates, bowls, laddle etc. The basic stuff for eating hotpot. Each time we have to raise up our hand to ask for stuff. Plates stack so high up also never bother. Ask for change of plates and they just came back with one plate. Very uncomfortable dinning experience.

A nice decor but not very nice service...
