Craftea — Restaurant in Johor

Visited Craftea at Mount Austin (about 20–30 minutes from JB CIQ) and was truly impressed. The space is cozy and aesthetic — perfect for a relaxing lunch or casual tea break.

We tried their “Craft Your Own Bowl”, and I picked the snowflake beef with soba noodles — the beef was incredibly tender, and the soba made it light yet satisfying.

Also loved the Unagi Chazuke, which came with a savory broth poured from a teapot. The unagi was nicely charred, and the soup was aromatic and comforting.

We added Chicken Gyoza with sesame sauce as a side, which paired really well with the meal.

Craftea also specializes in freshly brewed pure teas — we had the Osmanthus Oolong, which was floral and refreshing. I also tried the Taro Fresh Milk with Cheese Foam — sweet and savory in the best way.

To end the meal, we had their Tea Gelato — both Genmaicha and Matcha were smooth, fragrant, and not overly sweet. A perfect finish!

Highly recommend for anyone visiting Johor Bahru looking for a clean, delicious, and tea-forward...

I love everything that I ordered!

The crispy wedges is super crispy, and the pasta sauce is such a delight. I was expecting Prego or other instant sauce but this pasta sauce had a home cooked feel to it. There was a lot of ingredients - minced meat and onion - in it, isn’t overly sour, taste is just right.

I love ochazuke and this is one of the rare place that does it. I had the smoked salmon ochazuke set meal which comes with the cute platter of 3 side dishes - marinated shredded crab, egg in yuzu-base sauce and fried ebi with seasoned mayo.

I wish the tea for the ochazuke was warmer. I’m not sure about the ideal temperature - if it’s meant to be served this way. Personally preference.

The ochazuke was a little too salty for my liking. As the salmon, furikake and bonito flakes are salty, perhaps it would be good to reduce the furikake (e.g: serve half of it on a small dish) for customers to adjust to their preference.

Atmosphere: 4.5🌟 Their sofa seats are comfy and normal stables and chairs looks quite sturdy and decently comfy as well. Plenty gaps between tables.

The flavour actually comes in an aftertaste which starts to feel it a few seconds later. It has a mild apple flavour but nice strong spices flavour. Priced at Rm 11.90
