I dont usually hate a place. This is probably the first. Booked this place to explore Mt. Austin. Not the first hotel we tried here but it will be our last for awhile because my family has PTSD from this stay. We checked-in relatively pleasantly at this place. Arrived early and requested to deposit our luggage at reception because we knew check-in was at 3pm. We did not press for early check-in. Luggage deposit was to the right of reception area beside a table. Usually in this case the staff would ask how many and perhaps tag the luggages at least to make sure of some semblance of security? But nope. Should have been a red flag, they told us just leave it there, no need tag and they din even bother to ask how many luggages we had. The area they pointed at also had bags of other ppl's stuff also untagged. The area was neither secured nor cordoned off. But we nicely told the staff and we left the luggages as directed cause we had appt. Come 4pm, we returned to check-in. Check-in was smooth, have to say it was relatively painless at this stage, and we maneuovered the maze like corridor to our room. (Luggage still all there, thank god) First impression. Got smoke smell. Den we rmb, the check-in staff told us not to open window cause facing back alley where the nearby resturant kitchen exhausts face. Ok no issue, we problem solve, use perfume, abit expensive but we dont want to be so "niao" with budget hotel. Quick check room facilities was in order, no "obvious apparent" uncleanliness. Taps, showerhead, hairdryer all working. No fridge in the room btw, but nvm the most dont buy things that need fridge lah. Had dinner appt, so dint stay in room, and left immediately. On the way out we mentioned the room smell to reception. They wanted to send some smell remover machine or sumthing to the room and ask if we will be in cause they will not do it when we are not in, and housekeeping staff will knock off by 6pm or sumthing. Appreciate the offer but declined cause we have appt. 1130pm we finally returned for the night and started to get ready to turn in. Then all hell broke loose. Pulling up the blankets on the beds, we found red ants under the covers. Running around like their backyard. These are not food ants, its the kind that will bite and cause rash. So we immediately alerted the reception. This is the night shift team, not the same one when we check-in earlier. They sent the maintenance team on duty to check. The team checked and verified that the ants was in the room. Now there is when shit hits the fan. We asked for a solution, which by all case is not unreasonable i believe. The staff first assumed we check-in 2 nights ago without checking the system. After we corrected her and she checked, she proceeded to assume we ate in the room. Which, we did not. So she asked if we would like to change room. But we have to topup for the change. Extra 200$. We were like why? Is that the presidential suite of the hotel? No, its just the same room type on a higher floor(we were on level 1, the offered room on level 2). We declined and asked for other solution options. These ranged from changing bedsheets, spraying pesticide. The staff was very impatient to even try to assist us at this stage. And there was another person at the counter (we did not know then, this was not staff, but staff's family member) he kept throwing shade on our converaation with the staff with his comments. It was incredibly rude. The staff also let slip during the conversation, they already knew the room had a pest issue at least 2 nights ago. But still they went ahead to assign it to us for use? At this stage it was almost 12.30midnight and the staff decided to offer us a 1-night refund and told us to get another hotel. Through this process the staff was calling the "owner/manager" for clarification. And the resolution was to kick us out past 12 midnight and give us a 1 night refund? For a room issue that was not due to our action? Eventually, the staff was told to send us to a replacement room at no charge. We check out next morning,...

• Location: 4/5 (Excellent location in the heart of Mount Austin, within easy walking distance of attractions) • Design: 2/5 (Basic rooms, with a good-sized bathroom but could use better soundproofing) • Amenities: 2/5 (Basic amenities provided, but some essentials like toothbrushes, toothpaste, and hairdryers weren't included) • Overall Value: 3/5 (A decent option for a convenient and affordable stay in Mount Austin but falls short on amenities)
Overall: 3/5
Alright folk, Donkey and I, along with two of our riding buddies, were on a road trip from Thailand back to Singapore, and we decided to stop in Johor Bahru for a bike wash. We were on a long trip, so we needed a place to stay for the night. I, being the beauty-conscious one, chose Prince 33 Hotel in Mount Austin because it was convenient for me to get my eyelashes extended and to do my nails. We also liked that it was in the heart of Mount Austin, so we could easily walk to different restaurants and shops.
The location was great! It's within walking distance to both the old and new Mount Austin areas, which took about 5 to 10 minutes. The rooms were quite basic but spacious. The bathroom was also spacious, which was a plus. We were a bit disappointed that they didn't provide toothbrushes, toothpaste, or hair dryers, but luckily, we had our own. We thought the room could have used more hangers for our clothes. It would be great if the hotel could provide at least basic amenities like toothpaste and a toothbrush, or even a simple hair dryer for guests who need it.
The soundproofing wasn't great. We could hear people talking in the hallway, and even the alarm clocks from the room above and beside us. The hotel has connecting rooms, which is nice for groups of friends who want to stay together. We found the layout of the hotel a bit confusing. It felt like a maze, especially when trying to find our rooms! We had to go up to the first floor to check in, and then our rooms were on the second and third floors.
We had read some mixed reviews about the cleanliness of the rooms and service at the reception, but we had a positive experience. We didn't encounter any bad service or find the rooms to be unclean. Everything was satisfactory for our needs. We understand that it's a 3-star hotel, and it provided the basic necessities for a comfortable stay.
Overall, the hotel was okay for a one-night stay. It was clean and comfortable, but it lacked some of the amenities we've come to expect from hotels, and the layout of the hotel could be a bit challenging. It felt like a hotel that's trying to be affordable but fell a bit short on providing a good experience. I'd recommend it for a quick overnight stay but wouldn't choose it for a...
Read moreDeluxe King with window. It was just a small window. Pulled back the curtains, the window was all dusty. Room was spacious enough but the toilet glass door was facing our bed, 1 step I could step into the toilet. And I could hear all the sounds whatever my significant other was doing inside the bathroom. Had to sleep with light shining on our faces unless you're comfortable sleeping in complete darkness. The corners and edges were stains and moldy The tv all channels was black and white grainy coz a cable was broken. Can't watch anything. Behind the tv was very dusty. We left the room about 11am to go for breakfast. A male cleaner even saw us leaving and hanging the door sign to indicate that we want our room cleaned. He never mention anything and we never said anything. Came back 2pm, the room was the same as before we left, no cleaning up. Staffs were not friendly when we checked in. As if I owe them millions especially that dark skinned lady maybe in her 30s or 40s, seem to be the one in charge. Not a single word of greetings, never looked at me in my face, never smile. That Malay young lady, when we checked out, she was friendly though. The towels had stains. I don't know if that was hair dye stains or blood stains. Pillows with yellow mold stains. King bed, 2 guests, they gave only 2 pillows. They have a note on the reception counter indicating can request for extra pillows and hair dryer but subjecting to availability. No fridge. Poor wifi, every now and then problem loading. I used my mobile data instead. After booking through Agoda, I sent them a message via Agoda app saying that it is my birthday on the check in day, pls give me a big and clean room. I got no reply at all. Luckily it is not the only hotel there. The only good thing about this hotel is it's location. The hot water, I think they're using the water tank type, each time halfway through our showers, it slowly turned cold. The sound proofing is very poor. At night we could hear the TV sound from the next room and people talking. And next day morning we were woken up by noises next door, we thought the cleaner was cleaning up the room bing bing bang bang. But after awhile we heard kids talking. I assumed they were a family getting ready to go out...
