Curry Taste: 5/10 While the curry is good, it lacks the signature "nasi kandar" taste that many enthusiasts look for. A great nasi kandar curry is defined by its rich, deep flavor, where multiple curries blend harmoniously, each enhancing the other. The aroma alone should hint at the delicious experience ahead. Unfortunately, the curry here didn’t have that distinctive fragrance or depth. The main curry flavor overpowered the rest, making it taste similar to any regular mamak shop’s curry.
However, if you’re simply craving some curry rice, this place won’t disappoint. The curry is tasty, just not up to the unique standard that defines a truly remarkable nasi kandar. When evaluated as a regular curry, it stands out with a solid 7/10.
Food Variety: 10/10 One of the standout features of this place is the impressive variety of dishes. I arrived at 10 AM, and the food was already beautifully prepared. There were so many options that I had to take a few minutes just to decide what to eat—everything looked incredibly appetizing.
This wide selection makes the restaurant a must-try, especially if you love trying different dishes each time. Even with frequent visits, you’ll rarely get bored because of the extensive variety available.
Price: 10/10 Given the stylish and upscale look of the restaurant’s exterior, I expected the prices to be on the higher side. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The pricing is very reasonable, comparable to typical mamak restaurants—no overcharging here. You definitely get your money’s worth.
Atmosphere: 10/10 The atmosphere exceeded my expectations. The restaurant is clean, beautifully decorated, and incredibly relaxing. The thoughtful interior design creates a welcoming and cozy vibe that makes you want to return again and again. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a meal in a calm and aesthetically pleasing setting.
Final Verdict: Nasi Kandar Marwah is definitely worth a visit. While the curry doesn’t quite hit the mark for an authentic nasi kandar experience, it’s still flavorful. The real highlights are the extensive food variety, reasonable pricing, and inviting atmosphere. If you’re in Johor Bahru and craving curry rice with plenty of delicious options, this spot...

Nasi kandar is a staple dish in Malaysia and a popular choice throughout the Malay peninsula. The term "nasi" (rice) is Malay, and the dish is deeply integrated into Malaysian food culture.
Nasi Kandar was Malaysian dish with strong Indian influences, particularly from Tamil Muslim traders from India. Marwah was a big restaurant with great variety of dishes, comfortable and spacious seating environment. Food was full of flavours, truly enjoy.
There are so popular and famous of their Nasi Kandar with lots of selection of dishes from protein meats like chicken in different style of cooking, and seafood dishes like big prawns, sotong, squids and large lamb shank. And with many others vegetables selections too.
Wow... What a big restaurant with such wide variety of dish selections. Queuing for your own dish selection then giving order tag and pay after your meal. They are not willing to announce the food price even you ask them, Sometime, you might feel disappointed or surprised if the cost of the dishes you selected over your budget and cost you a bomb.
Either choosing white rice or my favorite Briyani rice, then adding their different type of curry gravy will definitely giving you a flavourful authentic Indian curry with great dishes. Simply satisfying.
Nevertheless, what Nasi Kandar Marwah serves was really delicious and full of flavours, especially their protein dishes. Unfortunately, Nasi Kandar is the type of foods that you have to always prepare extra money for surprise charging, and somehow you can't calculate it. So, it give a insecurity feels everytime you visit such restaurant.

We came early around 1120 and there are no long queue yet. I ordered squid and few veggies. My fren ordered kari telur ikan (fish roe curry). While we are halfway consuming our food, my friend was shocked to discover there's a dead fly. We called the staff and informed of the dead fly. The staff quickly took away my friend's plate. The manager came later and informed he wanted to exchange a new one but my friend was already full. Out of courtesy, the manager did not charge the kari telur ikan and rice. I have the picture of the dead fly but decided not to post it since the manager did apologise. Taste wise everything is just nice, not superb. I find there are other places whice are nicer. Since the dead fly (which is quite big in size) incident, for me to return is definitely a NO. Totally kill the birthday lunch treat. I hope those dine in please take a look carefully what you are eating. Nasi dah banjir dengan lauk kari n lauk² lain, please berhati hati, check betul² sebelum masuk mulut.
