I came here on 14 Nov, and have very mixed feelings about it.
The good: I think the food isn't half bad to be honest.
The prawn paste which we initially thought was a lump of grey sadness turned out to be very very good, maybe one of the best paste ive had, surpassing that of beauty in a pot in Singapore.
The marbled beef is fairly good, would recommend it for sure.
The Soup base (mala/mushroom) was standard, nothing to brag or complain about to be honest.
Special mention to the red bean jelly dessert (can't rmb the name). I think it's not too sweet and pretty good after a heavy meal. The fruit tea was a tad too sweet for our liking.
Service is 4/5. I find the staff there very friendly and chatty. They are very prompt on empty plate collection, recommendations and all, but they did not help/ offer to help portion the prawn paste into the soup.
The bad. I think the bad part is the portion, which is frankly speaking, very very embarrassing.
Imagine this, 1 order of the Tang-O is approximately 1, max 2, mouthful of veg after cooking. This probably applies to all vegetables, except the Chinese cabbage which usually retains its size after cooking, especially the stem part.
The meat - the portion on the pork belly is abysmal. What they've done is just cut the long slab of maybe 4-5 pieces of pork belly into 2, and serve them as a 8-10 pieces of semi long/semi short pieces on a bed of ice.
I think the restaurant have messed up so badly on the portion that it sort of became a bad-ish experience towards the back. Both my wife and I chalked up a bill of slightly over 300rm and the only reason we left was because I was too lazy to keep re-ordering and re-ordering.
The saving grace was that the toilet is big and very clean.
As a big eater myself, I probably wouldn't recommend this place to other big eaters and I don't see myself returning until they've corrected the...
Read moreAll of us are never been here before, the interior was nice and clean. We come around 6, the sun was shine thru the window make it look amazing.
They are huge from the inside, space between table are generous. Food was pretty fresh, pork belly, prawn, beancurd, or the Chinese churros. Soup we have the twins pot, one filled with mild spicy soup and the mushroom soup. The mushroom soup are so rich and taste so great . Even when the refill, they did fill with the clear soup instead of water. Also, try the fruit tea. This hot pot restaurant are...
Read more10/10 for ambience but food was 5/10, very average and the portion was really small - imagine half the portion of the Haidilao 半分 so it wasn’t satisfying - not Shiok :( The mala soup base is pretty authentic but the pork bone broth is meh. And the sauces selection doesn’t have the usual authentic sesame sauce but instead a very bad-tasting sesame sauce which seems like the instant type. And there isn’t sesame oil as well which is a basic hotpot sauce. It’s such a pity as the service and ambience was great. It was about 75 rm per pax for a...
