TLDR - not worth the journey here for the food. Only saving grace was the warm lime drink with salted plum. That’s genuinely good
Assam sardine - no assam taste at all. Dish was extremely salty to the point of being inedible
Ginger spring onion pork - ginger was fragrant as it was fried on its own prior to being stir fried together with the pork. Overall it’s average tasting but it’s the best dish I had out of everything I ordered
Crab meat soup - a mixture of crab & minced pork meat in a roughly 30/70 ratio in semicircle mould shape cooked in a light broth. The crab meat mixture is more similar to crab cakes with flour mixture. Soup was light tasting. Overall average at best
Otah - store bought frozen stuff, otah blend had too much flour & not much fish in it. Tasted more like spicy fish cake. Not worth the order
Bee Hoon - regular dry fried bee Hoon, no wok hei fragrance, average tasting at best
Specialty fried rice - pretty plain fried rice with fish cake, eggs & shrimp. No wok hei. Only special part about it is that it’s specially average at best

Read moreAnother place that i have saved for quite some time. Decided to come here for lunch before returning Singapore. This resturant serves Teochew food and they are well known for their soups, noticed that every table ordered the soup. Reached the place around the lunch and it was relatively packed.
Ordered the fried beehoon, Ginger and scallion pork, stir fry baby sweet potato leaves, shrimp egg omelette, crab meatball soup and the mushroom meatball soup. Food didnt took long to be ready. The food and soup was not bad, personally like the crab and pork meatball. The meatball was quite huge and well seasoned. Veg and the egg was normal,as for the fried beehoon, its not bad but could with more seasoning.
Overall, everyone is satisified with the food, would definitely be back again for their soup and perhaps try their...
Read moreThe restaurant was newly renovated and it was a pleasant dining experience had it not been for the raw fishy odour wafting from the kitchen. Service is good and there is room for improvement in terms of communication as the servers are foreigners. The food did take a bit of time to arrive but it was sheer enjoyment from then onwards. The crab meat ball was delicious and the accompanying soup was just as good. The asam fish was cooked till the bones are soft and melts in your mouth. It was well flavoured with piquant chilli accents on the taste buds without overwhelming the dopamine response. The other dishes were standard. I had hoped for more from the otak but this being a Hakka restaurant, it's not fair to judge it on that merit. I will return to try their...
