Like the atmosphere, it is a camping theme, very relaxing, lovely soft music playing in the background. It is mainly al fresco (outdoor) dining hence is spacious and don’t feel crowded, cannot hear conversation of neighbouring tables. There is indoor (non-air con) choice too, maybe 4 tables. Conveniently located at Pelangi Johor, the main road is not busy. Minimal traffic sounds. Service staff (including the lady boss) are courteous and attentive.
We had the white Tom Yum soup and Coconut milk based soup, both non-spicy, a bit sour-ish and delicious. When the Coconut milk based soup gets too thick, you can ask to add the white Tom Yum soup.
The foods are lovely, fresh…goes well with their own delicious chilli. Love the century quail eggs (小皮蛋), surprisingly delicious with the sour-ish soups. See menu here https://feedme.cc/632983f2e6380f001bcfc85b?c=1 A couple of key points to share: (i) although it only offers collar and belly porks, there are good selection of flavours (Original, Garlic, Soy Sauce, Black Pepper, Lemongrass). Personally Original flavour (no marinate) is good enough for me since the pork itself is fresh, not frozen. Note: if you do not eat pork, then you can have seafood and vegetables. There is no chicken or beef. Lady boss said traditional authentic mookata also only offers pork. (ii) it offers free flow of glass noodle (冬粉), kang kong (morning glory,通心菜) & chinese cabbage (白菜, cut into small pieces which surprisingly is yummy, fresh & crisp).
Lastly, we all had the same drinks (Handmade punched ice lemon tea; 顿暴打柠檬茶). Perfect drinks to go with mookata. It was so nice and quenching, i ordered an extra to take away.
Will definitely return when we are...
Read moreThamp is a camping-themed Mookata restaurant, located 12 mins by car from Johor Bahru Checkpoint. This dining establishment is situated opposite Pelangi Leisure Mall.
There are 2 seating options here, a neon-lit air-conditioned indoor seating and an outdoor campsite. The latter is decorated with a teepee theme, complete with fairy lights, camping lanterns and chairs. There is even a projector screen showing movies while you feast heartily on your food.
For the Mookata, you get to pick from three different soup bases:
Tomyam White Tomyam Signature Coconut
I ordered the Set A (RM68) with Coconut Soup (RM5) that is perfect for 2-3 diners. Besides the pork that come with four different marinations (Garlic, Soy Sauce, Black Pepper & Lemongrass), the set also comes with Crab Stick, Fishball, Japanese Tofu, Shiitake Mushroom, Cabbage, Kang Kong and Glass Noodles. In addition, you get to enjoy unlimited servings of Vegetables and Glass Noodles during your dining here.
Tip: The restaurant only allows walk-in reservation. If you are dining during the weekend, do drop by early when the eatery opens at 6pm.

Read moreWe recently visited here with high expectations after seeing enticing pictures of their dishes online. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory, and I feel compelled to share my disappointment.
First and foremost, the food served did not match the visually appealing images depicted on their website and social media platforms. And also the service at here was nothing short of appalling. The staff seemed disinterested and negligent throughout my visit. Instead of attending to the needs of the customers, they were engrossed in their mobile phones, paying little to no attention to the dining area. It was frustrating to witness them neglecting their duties, as it resulted in extended waiting times and ignored requests for assistance.
We as a paying customer, I expected a certain level of quality and service, which unfortunately, you guys failed to deliver. The mismatch between the advertised food and the actual product, combined with the lackluster service, left a lasting negative impression to us....
