A cosy cafe nestled at a corner of the shop houses in Mount Austin. They offered a variety of Hong Kong styled dim sums and noodles. We ordered a good amount of around 7-8 dishes to be shared among our family of 6. Firstly the chicken cutlet noodles with tomato sauce was just average so we feel that the tomato sauce was the instant bottled kind and the noodles are not springy enough. Next we had the spare ribs chicken feet rice and that was just amazing. It changed our mind and we thought that if the noodles are not done well, their other dishes might just be average. The umami oozing out from the pork ribs and chicken feet was just perfect. The sauce from the meats mixed with the slight hint of spice from the chili and the hot piping steam rice makes it a palatable dish. The black black truffle pork bun has a hint of truffle and roast pork which complements well. The lychee prawn balls was generous filled with prawn paste inside and shaped with a lychee fruit which was quite delicious as well. The emerald salted egg lava bun as you can see from the picture was oozing out. The pandan kaya which I believed gives off the green colour therefore named as emerald mixed with salted egg just hits all the right notes and suit our taste perfectly. The winner here are actually the drinks but we didn’t took a picture of them as we were busy chatting. The coffee and tea here was well done here and mixed with a good amount of sugar and milk that gives off both a bitter and sweet taste to it. The staffs here were very friendly and efficient. Overall, I will recommend this cafe if you are craving for Hong Kong style food! Perfect for gathering of families and...
Read moreThe ambience is great on the other hand foods were so so and are expensive including the coffee. Siew mai has a weird taste and a bit pinkish on the inside (not sure if it wasn’t cooked well). Female server has no manners (owner pls take note of this feedback) as yesterday she cursed loudly using the word “CB” inside the restaurant. We ordered the bun and advised the male server its a take away food, she then serve it as a dine in food to a different customer and when the customer said it’s not his she then turned to us and we told her nicely its for take away. She then went to her male colleagues and cursed loudly. We were in disbelief but still gave an awkward smile as the male servers looked at us and their faces was so ashamed of what has happened. It’s a very disgusting attitude but to be fair the males servers were nice. Pls train this staff on good manners, if it’s other customers perhaps she’ll get reprimanded right...
Read moreAbsolutely amazing food and ambience!
Sze Chuan wanton was smooth with fresh ingredients and most importantly, the sauce was very well balanced, vinegar and chili complement each other well. Overall a great appetiser to start of!
Highly recommend the unique Emerald pau if you like both salted egg and kaya which oddly enough goes well with each other!
Truffle Char Siew pau was alright, fragrant truffle but couldn’t really taste it. The original Char Siew pau might be better.
Polo Bun with luncheon meat and fried egg highly recommended! Extremely tasty and comforting, crust was crispy and sweet all encompassing what a Polo bun should be!
The Yuan Yang was well balanced too, the Kopi/Teh did not overpower one another. Will definitely reorder!
Niko Neko milk tea was definitely memorable as well, enjoyed the milk tea and matcha together.
Will definitely return to try the...
