Sushi Mentai @ Mount Austin — Restaurant in Johor

If you’re planning to enjoy sushi from the conveyor belt, avoid visiting this place after 8:30 pm. There’s no sushi on the belt after that time, and although you can place manual orders, the last order is taken at 8:45 pm, despite the restaurant staying open until 9:30 pm. After 8:45 pm, you’ll mostly see the staff cleaning up, and no more food will be available.

They also charge 10% service charge and 6% tax, even though we had to scan the QR code and order everything ourselves, with minimal service other than food delivery to the table. Why pay a service charge when there’s hardly any service?

Was a random find - restaurant was near the exit of the carpark, main road was jammed up, so we alighted to look around. Restaurant was quite bustling with locals - always a good sign!

I was hungry, so, plates on conveyor belts meant that I could eating the moment we sat down. Bonus - sitting near the chefs meant super fast serving! Nice sashimi, the White Tuna was nice, felt similar...

I always love Sushi Mentai. It's my go to for a quick lunch. This time around, I had the sashimi salad and it was delicious, the sesame sauce complemented the salad just right. Value for money too if you're on a budget. After finishing the salad, I didn't have much room for sushi but I went for sushi so sushi it is. I also tried the Devil's Egg and surprisingly good. It's something I would eat again.

This location is quite secluded but best thing is that it's not crowded especially during lunch...
