The Blue Door Coffee House - Coffee Specialty — Restaurant in Johor

The Blue Door Coffee House is a hidden gem in JB that you should definitely visit! This café is an adventure in itself, with secret doors leading from one room to another. The food is not only beautifully presented but also exceeded my expectations after reading mixed reviews online.

We started with the Crispy Parmesan Beef Tacos, which were amazing! Tender, juicy beef wrapped in soft, fluffy taco shells with a crispy, cheesy outer layer. It was delicious on its own, but the homemade sauce took it to the next level.

The Creamy Butter Chicken Chop Spaghetti is the ultimate comfort food. The spaghetti is drenched in a creamy, aromatic butter sauce, served with a perfectly grilled chicken chop that was tender and juicy.

While the Signature Mala Smoked Duck Calzone had a flavorful mala kick, it wasn’t as memorable as the other dishes as its on the drier side.

The Yam Supreme Croissant was a delightful treat! It’s filled with generous homemade yam cream and topped with toasted almond bits for a satisfying crunch.

For dessert, we tried the Kunafa Set (55RM), which came with two drinks (Kombucha & Pistachio Latte) and a Kunafa Chocolate. The dark chocolate coating on the kunafa gave way to a satisfying crunch, making it a unique and indulgent dessert.

The Pistachio Black Sesame Basque was rich and indulgent—a dream for black sesame lovers. However, the richness might be overwhelming, so consider sharing this one!

The Matchamisu, made with premium Niko Neko Matcha, was a matcha lover’s dream. Dense, creamy, and intense, with perfectly balanced bitterness and sweetness.

The cozy vibe is topped off with a quirky feature—a literal bed in the middle of the café for those post-meal food comas!

The food, service and environment were really nice. They had 2 seating areas - the entrance area felt like it was more for chilling while the one I went was more for dining.

We had the beef tacos, scallop aglio olio and white sauce calzone as our mains. Although the pasta was spicy, I really liked how the noodles were al dente and nowhere near mushy. It’s a simple dish that was very well executed and was easily my favourite.

The beef was well marinated and the ends of the tortilla had a cheese skirt that was crisp and fragrant.

White sauce calzone was crisp where it is thin and chewy where it was thick. The taste was elevated by the light aroma of the alcohol incorporated into the sauce.

The rum and raisin basque burnt cheesecake was perfectly creamy and the rum was present but not overpowering. Highly recommended!!

Pistachio Kunafa Croissant had a generous amount of filling and was well toasted.

Kunafa drink set - the chocolate was so good and complements the tie guan yin kombucha. Pistachio latte was good too.

Taro Milk Latte - v generous amount of taro paste tasted like pure mashed taro so you can still taste a bit of the taro bits but personally I prefer smoother creamier taro paste...

At first, I wasn’t able to find the shop, only to realised the Blue Door sign! Hidden and mysterious 🤪 On the way heading to 2nd floor, noticed a blue door which I opened it, and saw its a mirror 🤣. The concept of blue door really going strong!

Next, you will be going to the another side of the cafe by entering through a cupboard, with a mattress waiting for you. 🤪

Entering the cafe, the ambience definitely 💯 on point and really suitable for friends or family gatherings! We ordered the recommended :- -Blue Door rice (the portion is big!); -Yam Supreme Croissant (super good! The taro cream really yummy and doesn’t have the artificial taste at all) *Please try this if you’re taro lover!; -White Sauce Chicken Salami Calzone (cheesy and not too overpowering!); -Korean Chicken Grilled Sourdough (with kimchi sides); -Crème Brûlée Latte (coffee with sweetness from burnt caramel); -Winter Matcha (I chose Pistachio for the mixture - I really loved the pairing, bitterness from the matcha then the sweetness and creaminess from the Pistachio, and the milk to complete them).
