We had the Kimchi Jjigae, Chicken Bokkeum, and Toppoki. It was delicious without the 'processed' taste of most Korean restaurants. Tasted like the 'home-made' cooking of a Korean mother, actually. Lo and behold - we spotted a Korean Ajumma (the owner, maybe?) busy cranking dishes out from the kitchen.
Service was excellent. One of our dishes took longer than expected, and we were surprised with some also delicious chicken dumplings on the house. The Indian waiter (gotta love multiculturalism) also insisted that we sit and eat our free ice cream before making payment (only cash accepted).
Ambience wise, the restaurant is decorated with traditional Korean art pieces and mural paintings of traditional rural life in Korea - one of which features a dancing peasant lady resembling the Ajumma from the kitchen. The wife and I suspect that she is actually an immortal who has been alive for centuries perfecting her craft, moving her restaurant to different lands per human lifetime to avoid discovery.
How else would you find such authentic Korean food in a restaurant run by Koreans on Langkawi, an island in Northern Malaysia with history mixed with Siam? Seriously, it makes sense.
But yeah. The food is good. We're coming back on...
Read moreConsidering this Korean restaurant is in the middle of Langkawi, I’ll think this place is good. However, compared to other Korean restaurants, I’ll have to give it a 3/5.
I peered into the kitchen and there was 3 Indian men and 1 Nepalese server. I was curious how the food will turn out. The Korean matron didn’t seem to be around yet as we came at a strange time.
The appetisers looked rather tired, and the kimchi tasted a little strange, perhaps it’s this own recipe but it just didn’t sit right with me considering how much I love kimchi..
The beef bokeum was tasty as expected but the pancake batter was a little too thick and bland for me, but they were very generous with the ingredients which I will give credit to.
I have to admit. They gave me some dumplings to try and I loved it. 5/5 for the dumplings.
The kimchi soup was good although I think they put in canned tuna to flavour the soup. Overall I think this place is worth the visit and the food is worth the price. However, in comparison to other places i think it’s only worthy 3 stars..

Read moreHaroo+ is not your typical Korean Restaurant that serves the standard Korean food with localized flavor. It has the best Korean pancake and the seafood noodle soup in he Kuah area. The Korean pancake is rich in the veggies and not heavy on the pancake and extenders unlike the other restaurants. The Seafood Noodle soup does complement the meal as the Shrimp and mussel flavor is noticeable in the taste of the warm soup. The Citron Honey and Ginger teas are very much close to the Korean teas as these were oozing with the tangy citron zest flavor and spicy ginger taste, not too mention the sweetness was just right . It should be more pround of the hospitality and impeccable service by its staff, as it was difficult to find a decent place that served hot meals outside at the late hour in te Kuah area. Kumar and the staff accommodated us and we were attended to properly at the late hour. Kudos to you, Kumar and your staff! Looking forward to...
