I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Bayview Hotel Langkawi, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The highlights of my stay included the incredibly friendly staff, the comfortable and well-appointed hotel room, and the delightful food offerings.

From the moment I arrived, the warm welcome from the hotel staff made me feel right at home. Each member was attentive, professional, and genuinely eager to ensure my stay was enjoyable. They provided excellent recommendations for local attractions and offered assistance whenever needed, which truly enhanced my overall experience.

The room I stayed in was immaculate and beautifully designed. It featured all the amenities one could ask for, including a cozy bed, a stunning view of the surrounding landscape, and modern conveniences that made my stay comfortable. Screaming “NO” from my side.

Personal experience and personal opinion.

We are a pure vegetarian family — we don’t even consume eggs. After a long and tiring journey, we had brought some pure vegetarian snacks from Kuala Lumpur to eat upon arrival.

We simply requested a couple of plates and bowls to eat our own food. To our shock, we were met with a blunt and outright “No” saying no business to us, no plates. Mr. Nathan went one step ahead and informed us, quite shamelessly, that unless we purchased food from the restaurant, they would not provide us with even a single plate. He said, “The plates are only for the restaurant food.”

This response showed a complete lack of respect and sensitivity toward our dietary choices of pure veg foods!

Mr. Nathan, immediately lopped in himself and try showing his (GM) designation and went as far as to say, “You can complain to management or the hotel owners, but no plates.”

The so-called “vegetarian breakfast” offered was a complete joke. The cook seemed entirely unfamiliar with Indian vegetarian cuisine. What was served as sambhar was simply bland, boiled lentils — tasteless and inedible. We felt nauseated eating it.

Despite having access to internet and tools like ChatGPT, it seems no effort was made to understand or prepare actual vegetarian food. The items served may have been vegetarian by ingredient, but they were far from being real food — utterly third- or fourth-class quality.

Adding to the discomfort, when we checked in, the refrigerator still had leftover food from previous guests. It was stinking and unhygienic.

This experience has been beyond disappointing. The insensitivity, especially from Mr. Nathan, and the poor food quality reflect a complete disregard for vegetarian guests.
