Shell-Out Dining Experience on 24th October 2024
Operating Hours: Although the restaurant's business hours are listed as starting at 4.00 PM, it wasn't ready to take orders until 5:30 PM. We arrived at 4:30 PM, so there was a considerable wait.
Location: Conveniently located beside a small stadium and a playground, we didn’t mind waiting as we could spend some time at the playground until the restaurant was ready.
Facilities: The restaurant has hand-washing sinks and enough fans to keep the environment comfortable. There is a Muslim prayer room, though it’s shared between men and women, so patrons have to take turns. The prayer room was also under renovation, making it somewhat less comfortable.
Environment: The setup is adequate for steamboat and shell-out dining, with tents set up to handle rainwater drainage effectively. However, it's best to avoid tables at the back, as there’s an unpleasant smell from a public drain nearby that could affect your dining experience.
Food: We ordered the shell-out, and the sauce was excellent. With premium ingredients like lobster, crawfish, or octopus, this could rival the famous Shell Out franchise. Currently, it includes lala (clams), kepah (mussels), a crab, a few small squids, some broccoli, and two pieces of cut corn. For RM89.00 (for two people), it’s reasonably priced, and we were satisfied. The steamboat operates on a buffet concept, offering a variety of items along with freshly cooked options like fried noodles, kuey teow, and rice at a designated station.
Parking: Parking is somewhat limited. Designated parking is available across the road and next to a neighbouring restaurant; otherwise, you may need to park along the roadside.
Staff: The staff members were friendly and welcoming, with proper attire that made them look professional. We appreciated their...
Read moreMy experience here was honestly frustrating. From the moment I walked in, no one greeted or assisted us. There were no signs or staff to explain that we had to order at the counter we were just left unsure of what to do.
We waited about 15 minutes before realizing it ourselves, and even when we tried to get the staff’s attention, they ignored us despite the restaurant being almost empty.
After ordering, our food took over an hour to arrive. Not a single staff member came over to update us or offer an apology. Other customers who came later got served first, which made it even more frustrating.
No “sorry for the wait.” No explanation. Just silence. Honestly, if you’re charging close to RM100 for a meal, the bare minimum should be decent service and basic courtesy.A simple “sorry for the wait” would’ve made a big difference, but sadly even that was too much to ask
To the management/owner: If you want to keep your business running, you seriously need to retrain your staff. A good meal means nothing when the experience is this...
Read moreGreat ambiance.
But i dont really like the service
There are few things that the management can improve
Ordering and paying for food. May i suggest that you put a qr code at each table so that people can see the menus and order without having to line up. Right now, the menus need to be shared with other people, and we need to line up to order for food and pay the food. That's double the hassle
Put up the qr code for payment. Again, this can be easily done. Even mamak or pasar malam stall can have this prepared.
Maybe smile at your customer, especially when you handle the counter. Again, this can be avoided if step no 1 is done
Other than that, the food is nice and i didnt have to wait long for the food. ..
Fix the issues and you may get 4 or...
