My family and I had the pleasure of dining at Al Sultan Restaurant in Bukit Bintang for lunch, and it turned out to be an experience worth sharing. From the moment we stepped inside, the warm and inviting ambiance of the restaurant set the tone for a memorable afternoon. The decor is inspired by traditional Turkish and Middle Eastern aesthetics, with intricate patterns, soft lighting, and plush seating that exudes elegance and comfort. The gentle background music added a touch of authenticity without being overpowering, making it the perfect setting for a relaxed family meal. Despite the restaurant being moderately busy, we were promptly greeted and seated by the courteous staff, who were attentive throughout our visit and made us feel genuinely welcome.
The highlight of our visit, undoubtedly, was the food. Al Sultan offers an extensive menu filled with authentic Turkish and Middle Eastern dishes, and every item we tried was a testament to their culinary expertise. We began with a selection of appetizers, including creamy hummus, freshly baked pita bread, tabbouleh, and stuffed grape leaves. Each dish was prepared with care and precision; the hummus was rich and smooth, while the tabbouleh was refreshingly tangy with just the right balance of parsley and lemon. For our main courses, we opted for the mixed grill platter, lamb mandi, and chicken shawarma. The mixed grill was a feast for the senses, with tender and juicy kebabs, lamb chops, and chicken skewers, all infused with the smoky flavors of the grill. The lamb mandi was a standout, featuring fragrant rice paired with melt-in-your-mouth lamb that was perfectly spiced. The chicken shawarma was another favorite, with its succulent slices of marinated chicken complemented by a deliciously tangy garlic sauce.
The portions at Al Sultan are generous, making it ideal for sharing, especially when dining as a group. We rounded off our meal with traditional desserts and beverages, which elevated the entire experience. The kunafa was a delightful indulgence, served warm with a crispy exterior and gooey cheese center, drizzled with just the right amount of sugar syrup. We paired it with a pot of aromatic Turkish tea, which provided a soothing finish to our meal. The desserts were not just delicious but also showcased the authenticity and tradition that Al Sultan takes pride in delivering.
The restaurant’s service deserves special mention. Despite the lunchtime rush, the staff remained attentive and professional, ensuring that our needs were met without delay. They were knowledgeable about the menu and offered helpful recommendations that turned out to be spot-on. The food arrived promptly, and the attention to detail in both presentation and preparation did not go unnoticed. This level of service added to the overall sense of care and hospitality that defines Al Sultan.
While our overall experience was exceptional, it is worth noting that the prices are slightly on the higher side. For a family meal, the bill can add up quickly, especially if you’re indulging in multiple courses and desserts, as we did. However, given the quality of the food, the generous portions, and the lovely atmosphere, the cost felt justified. This is the kind of restaurant you’d visit for a special occasion or when you’re in the mood to treat yourself to something extraordinary. It may not be an everyday dining option for those on a budget, but it is undoubtedly worth the splurge for the experience it offers.
In conclusion, Al Sultan Restaurant in Bukit Bintang is a gem for lovers of authentic Turkish and Middle Eastern cuisine. The combination of delicious food, a welcoming and beautifully designed space, and attentive service makes it a standout dining destination in the area. Whether you’re planning a family meal, a gathering with friends, or even a quiet lunch for two, Al Sultan provides a setting that is both sophisticated and...
Read moreWe were in Kuala Lumpur looking for great arabic restaurants, and we saw the HIGH ratings for this restaurant, so we decided to give it a try since we were there.
The first thing that was obviously bad was the atmosphere and decoration of the place, the tiles were blinding with its repeated black and white patterns, the chairs and sofas are out of the place with the rest of the decorations, the celling is non-existent, it's out of place of Arabic restaurants, and the AC cooling is not effective, since KL is very humid, great AC is needed. The music was LOUD, VERY VERY VERY LOUD, which made having simple conversations a tough task.
Additionally, customers who want Shisha and customers who doesn't want it are all eating in the same place, which makes dining experience uncomfortable for us. Also, the bathroom is mixed in both sinks and toilets, which is very disgusting.
Then we tried to order, and then the second thing wrong about the restaurant appeared, which was the mediocre service... First thing, the menu is misleading, A LOT, because the pictures in the menu does NOT reflect the actual meal that you will get, for example, Lamb Hummus shows an image of hummus with shredded meat in the middle, but we actually got minced meat in its place, and it wasn't even cooked well. Also, having the bread not come with Hummus for free is outlandish, it's just greedy. The service was mid overall.
The last thing that stood out to us in our experience was the FOOD, it was NOT GOOD.
All plates were very cold, the meat in the hummus was cold and undercooked. The rice was cold, dry, and had a weird aftertaste to it. The meat was undercooked and hard to munch and swallow.
Grape Leaves felt premade and not freshly made, which made it tasteless. Lastly, Dawood Basha came VERY cold, where it should have been able to preserve the heat, also, the vegetables were much much MUCH more than the broth, which doesn't make sense and makes the meal feel dry.
Overall, I wish I went to a...
Read moreBad food. Bad service. Staff ain’t got a clue. One of the worst places I have been and I’ve been to a lot of places all over the world. Manager took the order and decided to send the mains out before the starters (how the hell is he a manager)???? Told them I want the starters first. They all looked confused at this request started looking at each other and talking to each other in their own languages signalling one another to come over. Finished starters and manager told me the mains would come fresh and he swore he had given my original ones to someone else 🤣 liar!!! Told him not to bother and I was going to pay my bill and leave. He was Adamant we stayed and he was going to get fresh food sent out. 5 mins later food comes and I’m sure we had the same mains heated up where everything was hard 🤣🤣🤣 manager short stocky maroon shirt is a liar he walks around bopsing with attitude 0 customer service. maube he feels important ordering the young rabbit in headlight waiters around. Maybe he isn’t even the manager. Just self proclaimed. Don’t know how they have such high reviews. This review is from someone living in the UK where we have this type of food on every corner and it’s authentic Turkish owners so I know what I’m talking about. Also Mr manager do you think what you served us were lamb chops?????? Or some cheap part of a lamb. Rather go five guys or McDonald’s. Or stay hungry 🤣 I’m sure you will remember us well Mr Manager. Loads of better places to eat in KL. don’t waste your money at this place. Just looks ‘nice’ with some joker dancing around with light costume on. If there’s anything positive Buffalo wings and mozzarella sticks were good - RM400...
