Donkai - Bukit Bintang — Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur

First time I visited Donkai BB was back in December 2024. I ordered the wagyu with truffle sauce. My friend advised me to take only one. Please listen to me guys, ONE IS NOT ENUFFFF! Upon ordering, choose 2 hamburg immediately, its cheaper than if you add later on. I ordered as well their ebi tempura, wagyu skewer. Each hamburg order comes with rice, miso soup, veges and pasteurized eggyolk and these are refillable except the yolk (RM3/additional pc)

On my second visit, I ordered 2 patties immediately. But I wanted to try their angus beef pulak. And of course still with truffle sauce. Plus with ebi tempura.

Rice, miso soup, veges, kimchi are unlimited. You can call the staff for refills. Dont be shy, just ask! Haha.

I went to the outlet as early as 11.30am and no Q on both days I visited. Service is fast. Jenny is quite helpful on my second visit. I cannot recall the staff's name for my first visit.

Taste-wise:- Wagyu beef Angus beef But for someone who never tasted premium wagyu meat, I unable to clarify the taste of this patty. But I prefer the taste of wagyu than angus at Donkai. I ordered medium rare so I can continue cooking the patty in front of me according to my preference. Keep aside once you think it is ready. Do not leave it on the hot plate coz it will dried up the patty. But you do you.

Wagyu skewer RM22. Please just skip this one. Not worth your money. But still tender.

Ebi tempura RM10 for 2pcs. For someone who enjoys tempura, I would never skip this one. Crunchy, not oily. I dipped my ebi into truffle sauce.

Truffle sauce. I love it! Its sweet creamery kind of sauce. With taste of umami from the truffle. I enjoy the sauce with everything I ordered - patty, vages, ebi, wagyu skewer.

This is a cashless outlet so all payments must be done with QR or card 😎

As for the food, you can either refer from Google Maps in advance or ask their friendly staff for recommendations 👍 They are happy to help you 👍

For the meat patties (options are Angus Beef, Japanese Wagyu Beef and Chicken), you can choose the number of servings (single, double or triple) with your choice of sauce (tartar, truffle, Japanese curry, black sauce or original - no sauce). They are served as a combo meal (comes with a pasteurised egg yolk and free refills of rice, veggies and miso soup) but this combo is only valid for one per person. The pricings are different to your type of meat patty, number of servings and type of sauce. Patty or topping add-ons (onsen egg, pasteurised egg yolk and cheese) are available with charge. Feeling peckish? They also have side dishes that you can choose from their menu. They have a limited selection of drinks but the drink choices are satisfactory 👍 You can enjoy your meal with the extra condiments (sauces and kimchi) provided on your table.

Please note that drinks are NOT included in the combo meal set price 🙏

I've chosen Single Angus Beef Patty with Truffle sauce combo set and my brother had chosed the Single Japanese Wagyu Beef Patty Original. Both are delicious indeed especially when eaten with Donkai's Secret Sauce taught by the staff 😉👍

It is like a bar seating setup facing the kitchen, can accomodate around 17 pax if at maximum capacity

We ordered 2 hamburg set, both Japanese Wagyu and Chicken (both are tender and juicy). As a male, I feel 2 hamburg are quite sufficient since they do provide unlimited refill for miso soup, vegetable (brocolli and carrot), kimchi and rice. I refill my brocolli and miso soup for 3 rounds and had half piece of chicken hamburg from my gf, so overall i'm like 80% full so if I were ordered 3 hamburg it will be quite overboard haha (go big or go home!)

Miso soup is just nice for the flavor with some seaweed and mushroom in it. Brocolli and kimchi is very fresh and crunchy.

There will be different seasonings provided to elevate your dining experiences (i prefer black pepper and salt).

Our side we choose to pair it with mayo truffle sauce which is quite well balanced but I will go for original (without the sauce) for my next visit as the meat itself is tasty and flavorful enough. The ultimate marriage of pasteurized egg yolk, meat and the rice are divine.....

Will try their angus beef for my next visit, beef would be nice to consume on medium rare but once they place it on the sizzling plate which is constantly heated up, it will eventually turn to well done haha, so do take note of this and relocate your beef to your plate/bowl if you wish to consume it on medium well level hehe
