If you are looking for a hotel room offering an unbeatable view of Bukit Bintang, WOLO Kuala Lumpur is your perfect choice. Located in the heart of the Golden Triangle, WOLO Kuala Lumpur offers easy access to many popular shopping malls and dining establishments.
The original WOLO first welcomed guests in 2012. A change of ownership and an extensive refurbishment later, the hotel reopened in 2019 to reveal its current cool brand DNA. It is interesting to know the new WOLO had collaborated with space creators, inspiring artists, designers and craftsmen from different countries. You can see the efforts in the designing and planning of this property which truly reflects the essence of Kuala Lumpur. Upon arrival, you will discover a hand-made pewter door handle crafted by Royal Selangor Pewter. The origin of Kuala Lumpur’s tin mining days is much reflected in the main lobby area, where the metal-coloured motif ‘Muddy Confluence’ greets arrival guests at its hotel reception. Its arty design continues seamlessly to the hotel corridor, carpets and rooms.
Upon exiting the lift, I am delighted the hotel room corridor is kept fragrant at all times with its aromatic diffuser. All its rooms are designed according to the four main elements - Copper, Gold, Platinum and Diamond. The hotel rooms start from the 6th to 18th floor. The Gold King Room (Room No. 1701) I had booked can be described as modern quirk. There is even a metal art piece designed by Philippines Sculptors displayed inside my room. Tinted mirrors and metal detailings add swank to the room vibes.
A good range of room amenities is offered from Serta mattress, customised bathrobes and slippers, branded toiletries, TWG tea sachets to a Nespresso coffee machine. Even the hair dryer is rather powerful at 1,875W by hotel standards. You can help in the hotel’s conservation efforts by sorting the waste in the recycling and general waste bins provided inside the room.
In-room entertainment includes a SMART TV offering YouTube, local TV and some Cable TV channels. The room is fitted with one universal power socket and two USB charging ports. I am pleased the hotel had paid attention to details, such as the inclusion of two night lights, one at the bedside and the other in the WC.
The shower pressure is very strong and there is adequate warm water. The bathroom comes with KOHLER fittings, a reputable and reliable American bathroom brand. I am amazed the bathroom allows you to shower and enjoy a fantastic view of Kuala Lumpur city at the same time.
The highlight of my stay is the irreplaceable view of Bukit Bintang’s iconic crossroad. I can stay here forever and watch the world go by. However, do anticipate some noise as there is a band playing live music at the crossroad till midnight on a Saturday night.
The hotel does not have a restaurant offering breakfast for guests staying here. However, you can head to Starbucks Reserve on the ground floor of the hotel. It opens from 8.30am to 10pm on weekdays and from 9am to 1am on Fridays & Saturdays. If you wish to dine indoors, consider the in-house restaurants namely Yakiniku Great (6pm to 11pm) on the 3rd floor and Nineteen By Chef James (3pm to 12am) on the 19th floor.
On my departure day, I had requested a complimentary late check out and was offered a stay till 1pm. Thereafter, a late check out fee of RM30 per hour applies.
There is a boarding and alighting point for ride hailing service at the left side of the building. However you will need to board or alight the vehicle quickly to prevent a traffic holdup.
WOLO Kuala Lumpur is one bold, sensuous hotel which offers an eclectic luxury design that appeals to the modern day travellers. I recommend a stay at this hotel if you want to experience the vibrancy and energy of the streets of...
Read moreMy partner and I arrived at the WOLO on 20th Nov around 12pm, hotel staff was welcoming and we were swiftly checked in but our room was not ready.I put up a request to be on a higher floor with a city view and she told me that they will gladly switch my room if there is another available one that is closer to my request when arrive back later in the day. She proceeded to ask us if we would like to store our luggages there, which we did. When we finally checked in at night around 10pm, another staff told me that they switched my room to another floor (it was previously on the 11th) so that it's higher, but not too high that we will be disturbed by the music from the bar. Really appreciate that kind gesture from WOLO!Location of the hotel was perfect, in the heart of Bukit Bintang. You can find anything and everything there. Food, shopping, cafe, convenience stores, pharmacy, fast food, food street (Jalan Alor), MRT, Monorail. Only issue is that if you want to get a cab or Grab, please give the ride at least 20mins to reach you. The traffic there is terrible. The room toilet and shower was relatively clean and spacious, with minimal moulding issue. Bed, pillows and duvet is very comfortable and provided a good sleep. There are buskers performing past midnight near the hotel, therefore, if you are sensitive to loud noises, this hotel isn't for you.I had issues with the curtains, Aircon and TV in the room. When we first entered, the room Aircon was extremely stuffy for about an hour even though we adjusted the Aircon to the highest fan speed. When I pulled the curtains multiple times during the stay, my allergies acted up and I kept sneezing, my eyes will become teary and swell up. Same with the decorative pillows and bed runner. The TV was unable to work multiple times throughout our stay and we had to trouble maintenance team a few times. We had to request for House Keeping to tidy up our room at around 3pm on day 2 but I was surprised that they placed the bed runner and show pillows back on the bed, even though I placed it away. These items added to my allergies and I believe the pillows are feather pillows too.Staff are relatively quick when we call to request for help or to ask for additional items. Front desk, concierge, door man/valet/security are always ready to welcome guests with a smile! Thank you team! As the hotel looks really cool and chic, I would hope that the hotel will upkeep the rooms better. I hope to be back since I normally travel to KL for short getaways and to visit...
Read moreFabulously located at the cross roads in Bukit Bintang, to all the main shopping centres and street food areas. On the day of arrival there were noisy building works happening, which were not unaware of when we booked two months before. We had booked two gold rooms; the twin room for our children was great. Our gold room was tiny and costrophobic with hardly any circulation space. We checked the website and the room looked identical to the copper room. We requested a change to a gold room as booked and were offered a platinum room at extra costs of £50 per night. We were shown two rooms and accepted an alternative gold room on another floor to our children, not ideal but had to accept it. There was no storage space for make-up, toiletries, drawers for folded clothes, just a few hangers on an exposed rail, making the room look messy. Lighting was subdued so difficult to see, no full length mirror when getting ready. We were using the safe for our passports and valuables before realising it was not locking properly and that the entire safe box could be simply lifted out of its drawer with little effort; very concerning. Limited Breakfast choice in plastic containers was delivered to your door, definitely not a good choice, so ate out for the rest of our stay. Room had one table and chair so one of us had to sit on the bed to eat, not what we expected at all. In bedrooms the Carpets were stained, because of breakfast eaten in rooms. Night gown was not pleasant to wear. The hotel boosted about the quality of their designer fixtures and fittings on its own separate tv channel, yet the rooms need a bit more attention to make them user friendly and comfortable. We had been travelling around Asia and this was our last stop with the least comfort in comparison, so we felt a little disappointed. Staff were friendly, design features are interesting to look at, though the lobby area was a building site, ok for a couple of nights, any longer like us and it can be impractical and frustrating to live out of a suitcase. Not what we expected so stayed out for the majority of the day, returning only to shower and sleep at night. The view from our window was great but the other room was of the bright green cladded shopping lot. Location was ideally the best part...
