I woke up and felt like COFFEE this morning, but did not wanna go far. Just wanted a little morning walk.
This New Zealander brunch restaurant opens early at 7am, seemed like they provided good coffee, and my wife saw a fluffy kitten milk foam on a coffee cup online, so we decided to give it a try.
As a result, the foamy kitten drink is called babychino, and it is only for kids. So we could get it, but we are happy we went there. Found some good stuff in there.
Our orders: Affogato with coffee jelly Flat white coffee Sweet corn pancake Gluten-free pancake
It was my first time trying affogato in my life. Coffee jelly bits packed nice punch of caffeine flavor. Vanilla ice cream was a nice addition to the bitter strong iced coffee.
Flat white was also great. It was strong and woke our sleepy brain and got us ready for the day. Cafe art looked beautiful as well.
I did not know it is a New Zealand way to add sweet corn bits into fluffy pancakes. When it’s served with corn bits over the plates, I was not familiar with the appearance at all. But when we started digging in, it made more sense. The combination of maple syrup and chili flakes was also new to me, but the flavors piled up as we go, I ended up loving it. The way they plated it was also simplistic but impressive.
Gluten-free pancake is not the menu I would usually choose. But the word soufflé made me interested in what it is like to have Greek yogurt wobbly pancakes. Well, this ended up being the meal of this visit, and I would recommend this dish to the first time visitors. Never tried yogurt soufflés before. The cloud-soft texture and the way it melts in my mouth was heavenly. I don’t really like butterscotch candy, but their butterscotch sauce over the plates was so good and enhanced the dish to perfect level of sweetness. Very well calculated and this pancake will be my go-to breakfast menu from now on. If you come here for the first time for any reason, try gluten-free pancakes first!
People working here are very friendly and generous minded. One of the best brunch restaurant I have found so far in Kuala Lumpur area.

Read moreI have been to Antipodean at Bangsar many times and have always enjoyed the food and the service has always been friendly. I was over in KLCC and noticed this branch at Merara Tan & Tan so thought i would pop in for some breakfast. The atmosphere looked nice and the set up quite welcoming.
Maybe I wasn’t aware of the custom, but I waited just inside the door to be seated. The waitress was serving another table so I waited. After she finished she started walking off without approaching me … I walked towards her and she said that I could just sit anywhere I wanted. fair enough … that might be on me. The menu is on the wall … they do not have a hard copy for you to review (not ideal with people with poor eyesight … have always had a menu shown to be at Bangsar).
I then decided on my food but waited for someone to come and collect my order. I waited and waited … probably somewhere between 5-10 minutes …. And seeing as there was only 2 other tables there who had already been served, I did something I rarely do … i just walked out. I didn’t rush out … I did look over to the waiting staff to see if they would approach me to see whether they were interested in servicing me … they did look over but seemed to consumed in a conversation with the kitchen staff to care.
I will not be coming back here which is a shame as I am in the area on a...
