We booked this place via booking.com after reading some guest reviews and decided to give this place a try. When we first arrived, the person who received us, Mr Imran was prompt in our queries initially and gave us suggestions to complete the payment using cash to avoid the additional surcharge if we were to use credit cards.
When we got to our apartment, everything looked new and it was very well furnished with tables laid out and bottles of water ready for guests checking in. Honestly, it was a pleasant sight. However, there were some very minor issues to begin with. One of the light bulbs had fused, causing the bathroom to be too dim for comfort. We were also short of bathroom towels and trash bags for the bins. Hence, we gave feedback to Mr Imran and very promptly, he sent someone up with the towels and trash bags. We then showed the housekeeping staff the fused light bulb in the bathroom and shortly we received a message from Mr Imran that he has arranged for someone to fix it the following day. We also discovered that there were a few tiny ants on the bed. Upon checking around, we did not see any more ants around so I brushed it aside. However the next day, we found a trail of ants on the side wall and had to do our own cleaning to get rid of the ants.
The second night, the nightmare began when my mum went to shower and a heavy huge tile from the side of the bathtub (which you can see from the photo) suddenly fell and hit my mum's foot, resulting in a deep cut on her toe. As it was late at night, we just did what we could to stop the bleeding and cleaned up the wound. The next morning, to our deep concern, as she tried to walk, the wound began to bleed again. We immediately got her to the clinic and her wound required 5 stitches. Seeing the photo of the tile, the doctor told us that we should be thankful that no bones were broken. While at the clinic, we provided feedback to Mr Imran but he went silent. There was absolutely no response from him for the entire day. When the housekeeping staff came by, we showed him the tile and my mum's wound. He was shocked and looked apologetic. We dismissed the unforeseen accident as our misfortune.
To our greatest shock, on Day 4, another incident happened. This time, when my sister was taking her shower, she suddenly felt a sharp pain on her foot and it started bleeding. We were wondering how it happened and we started looking around only to find a small sharp piece of metal sticking out from in between the tiles! If we had not used a torch to literally comb the area with our bare hands, we may have missed it and who knows who will be next in line to get hurt.
This was the last straw for us and we immediately texted Mr Imran to request to see him as he needed to see it for himself. Fortunately, he responded this time. When he came, we showed him the various spots and the metal piece that was found, he also confirmed that it was remnant from the construction work of the apartment. He was apologetic and he said that he will give the feedback to the management and get someone down the following morning to conduct a thorough check of the apartment. He acknowledged the seriousness of the incident and even suggested that we might want to consider having my sister get a tetanus jab. Honestly, we told him that we are not trying to be difficult. However, one serious injury is bad enough and now two??
Minimally, if the service apartment units are being put up for guests' booking, shouldn't the safety baseline be first checked and cleared? We are waiting for the management to get back to us regarding all the safety lapses. Hopefully, we will get some explanation and responses from them. 1 more night to go and we just want to go...
