I had noticed this Thai restaurant when I went to get my caffeine fix at The Other Half, which is located in the same building. Little I did know that it was Chef Trakool 'Korn' Yodsuk's, of the former wildly popular Erawan, latest venture in TTDI. I noticed how popular it was when I arrived at the door step one weekday evening without reservation. They were experiencing full house but one table was leaving and we got lucky by getting a table.
Note to self - book ahead if I want to come and dine here again in the future.
The accolades were hanging proudly on the wall and the staffs were busy running around taking and serving orders. Despite that, the owner still managed to attend to us in a friendly manner (appreciate that!) and chatted with us for a while.
◾ deep fried stuffed chicken wing - it seemed that this dish had been taken off the menu but this was very good... The chicken wing was stuffed with minced meat mixture and then deep fried. ◾Tom yum seafood - option between thick or clear soup with 3 spiciness levels. I kinda love the balance flavour of this soup.. not too sourish nor too sweet with the right spiciness level. One of the better tom yum. ◾Red curry pineapple - pineapple and prawns in red curry sauce. The curry sauce was addictive especially when doused onto the rice and mixed together. Prawns were guaranteed fresh. ◾Tofu with Thai basil - wok fried egg tofu with spicy garlic and holy basil. ◾Thai fragrant rice - one bowl us actually not enough. ◾Thai iced tea - as per Thai standard, the tea was quite sweet but it wasn't my order so I'm not complaining
La Moon is a bit pricier than average Thai restaurant, but they made up with good quality ingredients. Most of the dishes were above average and this warrant a visit...

For me, rating La Moon Thai restaurant is more challenging. On one hand, it ticks many boxes - good service (from telephone booking to table service); comfortable ambience (nothing too fancy but clean and modern, air con could be improved though due to high ceilings and HOT tom yum soup - see later 😋); and the good food. However my overall rating was marked down by the portion sizes and price. On with the food...
As said by many here, the stand out is the crab omelette. Cut through the crispy omelette envelope and you will find crab meat, glorious crab meat! The steamed fish with lime sauce and tom yum soup were good though I would have preferred the latter to be less sweet. (Note: we had the spiciness level 1 tom yum and it was blisteringly hot). Pomelo salad was average. Sadly, the green chicken curry was a fail - the curry sauce was too thick and lacking, and the chicken pieces were overcooked (some of my chicken pieces resembled the nangka in gulai nangka). The portion of tom yum soup, green curry chicken and pomelo salad were small. The 5 dishes (including the soup) were not enough for 5 adults. The waitress explained they did not offer dishes in different sizes due to kitchen constraints.
The cost was RM75 per head - no doubt skewed by the yummy crab omelette. I would revert to my usual Thai restaurants for my...
Read moreI kept hearing about La Moon for a very long time. It’s a famous Thai restaurant that has received many awards throughout the years. 😊
First impression, it’s a nice and very modern Thai restaurant. The interior is minimalist, with tons of awards on the wall. Exciting!
Upon stepping in, we were straight away told that the restaurant closes at 9:30pm sharp! We arrived before 8pm. Hmm alright then. 😀
The staff were very friendly and attentive, assisted in choosing the dishes and shared what they are famous for. Don’t be shy to ask, in fact we didn’t need to - the manager just came, sat next to us and shared his ideas on what we should order.
What did we order? 🥗 Pomelo salad 🍲 Clear chicken tom yum soup (🌶🌶) 🦀 Thai basil crab 🍧 Red ruby
The crab was the highlight. It’s really good and worth the price (RM108)! I’d recommending trying it.
Another yummy dish was the Tom yum soup. We chose level 2 (out of three) for spiciness and boy was it spicy! If you cannot eat spicy food - definitely choose 1. I love spicy food and that was reaching my limits haha, wondering what level 3 would taste like. 🥵
Overall, a great experience. It’s not your ordinary neighbourhood Thai restaurant. They take Thai food to a...
