I've been coming to Capitol Cafe in Bukit Bintang since 2020, and it never disappoints! This morning, I had their nasi lemak ayam goreng and nescafe ais, and it was a delightful experience. I took the LRT Kelana Jaya from Subang Jaya station, changed to the MRT Kajang at Pasar Seni Station, and after arriving at Pavilion Bukit Bintang Station, it was just a 5-minute walk to the cafe.
I arrived at 8 am, and the place was buzzing and lively. The cafe was full, and half an hour later, they opened up another section to accommodate more customers. The atmosphere here reminds me of the old kopi tiam in Tanjung Tualang, Perak – so nostalgic! I like that they have been around for ages and not a neo-post-Covid eatery that tries to pass itself off as an old-school kedai kopi. It really is an old school kedai kopi!
The nasi lemak was good – light and fluffy rice, slightly sweet sambal, and crispy ikan bilis and kacang, which is essential. The fried chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy inside, marinated simply with salt and turmeric, just the way I like it. The nescafe ais was served in a glass, a bit sweet for my taste, but I was here to treat myself. I like my nasi lemak soft and lemak and the sambal searingly hot with potatoes and a bit of gravy because this is how I make it at home but I thoroughly enjoyed Capitol Cafe's version
The food, the ambience, and the fantastic servers make this place a gem. Highly recommend!

Read moreLong wait despite the restaurant wasn't even half full. Checked with the lady boss a few times but she never come back to us. Boss just sitting at one of the table and don't bother to check.
Hainannese Chicken chop is so so, nothing close to the nearby Yuk Kee restaurant. Coffee ice and cham ice are quite bad, taste are not better than the instant 3 in 1.
Ordered two of the same food (chicken chop), the first plate was served more than 30 minutes later, and the second plate only came in another 15 minutes. And the waitress only gave us spoon and fork for the chicken chops, we asked for knife but was told there is no more knife at the moment. Just unbelievable.
The one star is given to the price. Drove 30 minute to city centre to try this restaurant but unfortunately is a poor experience. Best to avoid the place unless you are starving in city centre and absolutely nowhere else you can eat (provided you don't mind waiting even though the cafe look empty).
Edited: Reply to the owner's response below - nope you are not sorry, despite of all the bad reviews given by countless of the customers, you just dont bother at all. The same behavior also shown by the boss and lady boss (the plump lady), despite have asked many times about the orders they just dont bother to check...
Read moreHeard so many good things abt this place so decided to give it a try. When we reached the place, found out many things were sold out, like the curry cheong fun etc. Decided to order the toast and eggs set with milo/coffee mix. Also got a hainanese chicken chop. Half boiled eggs and kaya butter toast were both very run of the mill in taste, with the latter having far too little butter and even way less kaya, resulting in a rather bland kaya toast. Didnt help any with dunking of said toast in the watery eggs either. Hainanese chicken chop was uninspired and rather dull tasting, to say the least. Rubbery skin and meat lacking in taste, the haninese sauce was sorely lacking in tomato taste, and was a tad watered down for my liking. One good thing was that cos of the heavy rain, there wasn't any crowd and ample tables were available. If we had to wait in line for a table and got this quality of food,we would have been royally sore,to say the least. If one was in the area and wanted to try this food,i say go on ahead,by all means. Just keep your expectations to a bare minimum and you wun feel bad.
