This was my first time trying a Syrian restaurant. I know it is difficult to find a great hummus, baba ganouj and falafel. It took me a few years to decide my favorite restaurant in Chicago suburbs area.
Today I felt like trying hummus for the first time in Kuala Lumpur. I found this place on google and it's near Bukit Bintang station, so I decided to try.
My order: Avocado juice Hummus Grilled Chicken
Avocado juice - 4.5 stars out of 5. It was great, good flavor mix and avocado does not push you too hard, so it can work as a pallet cleaner between each item. If it's more chilled and a little more avocado flavor, I would give 5 stars.
Hummus - 4 stars. It was yummy. I could eat more but a little too simplistic, I guess. It is a little hard to describe what's special about it. It's a good hummus. And a little too much as an appetizer. I would like less amount and lower price unless it's shared by a few friends.
Grilled chicken - 5 stars. I would order it again and recommend it to any beginers like me. It seems thin first but meat was very tender and juicy. Great smokey flavor with bold spices. Grilled vegetables were nicely cooked and loved parsley and red pepper salad as well. It is pretty rare to get that a lot of parsley leaves in the salad. It took me as a surprise, but it was refreshing and made sense as the whole plate. I think it's almost perfect plate to me and would like to share with other visitors.
The map location was a little wrong in my apps, and the front guy didn't even greet to his customers. So the first impression was like “maybe I should try somewhere else?”. But glad I tried here, foods were very much enjoyable. There were outside patio, which is nice to enjoy the heat and the view. My total score was 4.5 stars. If you want to try Syrian food, I would...
Read moreFood was ok but took more than 30mins, other table who arrived late gets the food first before us. Service very unfriendly from the guy who in charged for 1st floor Was wrongly charged for shawarma lamb cheese large, it was supposed to be 1 large lamb cheese, 1 large chicken cheese. A price difference of rm3+ (lamb more expensive) were too late to realised since the bill was paid by my friend before we paid to her since the bills cannot be splitted at the counter.
So overall, dissappointing.
Another review for latest purchase 11.12.24 around 5-6pm if not mistaken. My husband bought shawarma lamb cheese small & shawarma chicken & cheese small. He brought home, and we realised both are lamb cheese small which unfortunately I dont eat lamb shawarma. Super frustrating and always dissapointing especially when you are quite regular here. Is ok maybe its time to change to Damascus. Their shawarma more juicy and the taste more consistent even the price a lil bit expensive but their service is fast even their stall always full of crowd....
Read moreI was excited to re-experience the middle eastern cuisines as I did with my arab friends before. Unfortunately, this night was not the night. I was served an almost stale chicken shawarma. It was smelly, obviously. I couldn't even finish the meal. Plus I'm a local and I feel like I was treated like a second class citizen among the arab's guests. Tho, I must say, the server probably tried his best to attend me. He was sweet. I only asked his recommendation through and through.
But ironically even my simple tea order didn't even arrived while other beverages were flying towards later order and late guests. I was left alone, pondering what was happening. Probably it is my unlucky night but I will never bring my friends nor family here. This is very sad.
Good luck to the business. I might try again some time in the future after a few years. Please improve the quality of food and please be attentive to your guests, including the quiet ones. I would love to visit again but not in the...
