Donkey and I recently indulged in a truly unforgettable dining experience at Yakiniku Great Wolo in Bukit Bintang. We opted for the Omakase Premium set (RM 330 per person), and let me tell you, it was a culinary highlight! Five perfectly cooked Wagyu cuts (as shown in my accompanying video) were presented to us, each more tender and flavorful than the last. It was clear the chefs were masters of their craft. I was impressed with the consistent high quality of each cut. Donkey enjoyed a Japanese beer with my meal, while I sipped sky juice throughout.
The meal culminated with the superb Kimura Yaki Don, a savory and comforting steamed bowl of rice topped with tender beef and a perfectly cooked egg yolk. It was the perfect contrast to the richness of the Wagyu. Earlier in the meal, we had been surprised by the deliciousness of the shiitake mushrooms (grilled for about two minutes). Even I, who typically avoids mushrooms, couldn't resist the savory goodness!
Following the main courses, we were presented with a delightful dessert: a refreshing jelly, served with a special premium Japanese sauce (as described by our server), and a complimentary cup of green tea. Donkey, a self-proclaimed dessert enthusiast, thoroughly enjoyed her portion… and mine! She polished off my dessert, leaving me with only a single, tantalizing bite. While I might have preferred a more generous tasting, it was a testament to how delicious the dessert was.
The restaurant's modern and stylish atmosphere was relaxing and inviting. The exceptional personalized service from Syaffiq and Zeey was outstanding; their attentiveness and knowledge significantly enhanced our dining experience.
In short, Yakiniku Great Wolo provided a truly unforgettable culinary journey, from the exquisite Wagyu to the delightful dessert. The perfectly cooked beef, the comforting Kimura Yaki Don, the surprisingly delicious mushrooms, the amazing dessert, the attentive service from Syaffiq and Zeey, and the pleasant ambiance combined to create a truly memorable evening. While a splurge at RM 330 per person, the exceptional quality and the overall experience make it a worthwhile investment. We wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a premium and unforgettable yakiniku experience in Bukit Bintang. Read moreThe restaurant is located in the hotel. Parking is a bit limited but they do have a paid valet service. We were greeted at the elevator and shown to our bar seating. That evening service was by a young gentlemen with a name tag “TRAINEE”. Already this worries me as we booked 520RM per head course.
The trainee began quite well, he was polite and attentive but what ever he was attentive to, he failed to remembered our orders. We were given selection of soup for our kids meal, he brings us a wrong one. I request water, he forgot.
This get worst as the meal progress. The grill was extremely charcoal black. I asked him to change it (which I should not need to ask) he said ok, after this piece. After he served us, he began cooking a new piece on the same black grill. Ah, didn’t you say you were going to change?
The meat has the dark charcoal stuck on it! So he began to serve me anyway and cook for my wife, but he put it in a plate but never served her. Then went to change the grill and start cooking the next piece. I asked about my wife previous piece, he said, already sir. I proceed to point to him that the dark charcoal meat is sitting cold in front of him and never served.
He had to ask the chef to get another piece of meat and the meal is already out of sync. Next piece of meat he cooked, he forget to get prepare the plates so it’s stay on the grill longer than it should. Luckily the senior staff saw this from behind and rush the plate to him.
To our luck, that senior staff took over on the last piece to safe the day. In the end, we spend 1,200RM on a omakase served by a trainee. I feel bad for him so I’m blaming the management for this...
