Very nice ambience at Troika Sky Dining concept. A few small restaurants with different vibes.
We started off at the Italian bar for a few drinks while waiting for our seating. Nice stylish and chic.
Then walked towards Mr Chew Latino bar. Loved the playful decor with Peranakan Baba vibes and pop art decor. Didn’t dine there but looked like a cool place to hang out for bites and drinks.
Proceeded to Fuego for our dinner. Views were underwhelming early when still bright but looks really good by night as soon as the lights come on the KL tower, KLCC (only one tower visible) and the surrounding skyline.
Fuego is an outdoor dining experience. Not the coolest in temp but was rather windy. Either ways, leave those jackets behind!
About the food. All the starters were really good. Guacamole regular and version with fish was very good served with tapioca and sweet potato chips. Baked potato foie gras was nice but ratio of foie gras to potato was a tad too small while dowsed with lots of cream. Soft shell crab as tacos was nice and a different twist to tacos. Grill squid was average and but there was a cauliflower dish that is a must!
Mains were average so rather disappointing for a South American resto. We ordered the beef ribs and lamb. Beef ribs were tender but weren’t exactly fall off bone. It had a char burnt vibe to it and slightly sweetish (think bbq) with slight spice. Lamb was quite fatty and was okay but nothing great or exceptional.
Ended with churros and some mezcal. Churros was good! Mezcal selection is also very decent!
Final verdict… definitely only go when it’s dark. Good view of KL skyline but not the best. Do snacks and bites. Skip the meat mains and squid. Have some wine. Or better, try their different mezcals!
Probably suggest a bit of hopping from Italian bar bites to Mr Chew and end the evening at Fuego....
Read moreWhile I was impressed with the warm welcome and professionalism of the host staff, I was disappointed with the service provided by the waitstaff. Specifically: Unprofessional Behavior from Waitstaff: I encountered a gay waiter who seemed overly judgmental when he touched my wife’s handbag, seemingly to inspect its brand. This behavior was inappropriate and felt intrusive, regardless of the brand of the handbag. Additionally, an Indian waitress appeared to show a lack of consideration by repeatedly bumping into customers’ chairs in a cramped seating area, which seemed avoidable given the available space. Handling of Plates: I understand that it’s common for servers to clear empty plates, but I found it concerning that the waitress took dishes that still had food on them without first asking if we were finished. A simple inquiry before clearing would have been appreciated. Unprofessional Remarks: During my visit, I overheard an Indian manager and a staff member making unprofessional remarks about my order of two virgin Long Island Iced Teas. I’d like to clarify that my choice was based on personal reasons, as I needed to remain sober to pick up my children later. I felt judged and uncomfortable hearing their comments behind my back. If your establishment does not serve virgin versions of certain drinks, I would have appreciated being informed politely upfront. Accidental Glass Breakage: I also noticed that a glass was broken during our visit, and while accidents happen, I would have appreciated a more professional response in handling the situation. Overall, while there were aspects of the experience that I enjoyed, these incidents left a negative impression. I hope you will take this feedback into consideration to improve the service and ensure future customers feel valued...
Read moreMy third visit to Feugo. First two trips were nothing short of satisfactory- which is what motivated my 3rd visit. I ordered 'Chermoula Chicken' since I didn't get to try it during the first 2 visits. I was excited for it since I've heard good things about it & the no-frills presentation did not disappoint! So as I cut through the piece of chicken I've picked, initially I was pleased with how tender/juicy it felt but as I reached towards the end of it, I felt some friction/resistance, which caught my attention to get a closer look at it - it looked raw & it was still pink. I communicated the issue to the waiting staff & my plate was taken into the kitchen for further inspection. I asked the other diners at my table and they said their chicken pieces were fine. When the waiter returned with my plate, I was told the chicken is not raw as the appearance is from their method of cooking which is "slow cooking method". I am no culinary expert but I've read enough articles on salmonella & raw chicken. I was given the choice to re-fire with the disclaimer that the chicken would likely become dry. I've only received great customer service in the prior visits and this response shocked me. I mean, sure it could be my lack of knowledge on the cooking techniques but it honestly was quite baffling to see raw chicken (or "raw-looking-chicken" according to their claims) being deemed as acceptable to be served in one of the most-raved-about restaurants in KL. I did not get a proper apology, not even when the bill was served to me.
TLDR? I returned as a satisfied customer but came back as a disappointed customer who likely would not make another visit after this.
